Question about 2001 Yamaha YZF-R6
I have a 2002 used r6, rode my r6 for 5 months with no problems and then all of a sudden it began to kill out on me while riding. one minute it is running great and the next thing you know the dash lights will flash and go out and the bike loses power, backfires badly, and stops. It will sometimes start up right away and run fine for about five to ten minutes and then it does it again. other times you can leave it sit for awhile and then start it and ride it with no problems even for a day but then the problem always comes back. ok i can honestly say this is my first bike and im a beginner rider and dont know absolutly anything about bikes yet. please help in details of what your think it is and where it is located please and thanks ..
p.s. jus a lil info... befor i dought the bike it was sitting for 6 months.and i havent took it in to any dealer to clean anything or check for anything.
Start by checking your right hand switch (kill switch) and make sure that it works ok.
Put it in "run" position, start the engine and try to move it sideways without pressing it to "off" position. If necessary remove it and check inside for rust or moisture signs.
