My 1984 Honda Sabre V65 aftermarket manual specifies fork oil in distance from the top of the fork tubes instead of in milliliters. However they do not specify if the fork tubes should be compressed or...

Yes it does seem a bit stupid.
I would think forks extended and springs in.
The easiest way is to use an oil s ucker like a large syringe and mark the lenght of tube on the end of the s ucker, then slighly over fill them and s uck it down to the required height.

Fixya spell check doesnt like words like s uck so I put in some spaces, hope it reads OK

After removeing C clips how do you remove the actual seals

Are you rebuilding your front suspension forks? If so, you have to sharply pull the fork down so it smacks the seal. after you do this a lot, it will eventually drive out the seal. You also have to tap in the new seal far enough to place the clips back in their grooves. I use a PVC pipe that I've cut about 2 inches lengthwise out of it. It fits right around the fork tube and I can tap on it to drive the seal while maintaining about 80% contact with it's circumference. This works great for me.

I need to rebuild my 04 CRF 450R front forks

The best way, is with the manual that comes with the bike new, if you don't have it, find or borrow one (Same model and year) because it has all of the steps and fluid capacities in it. There is no way to "talk" you through it.

82 honda sabre fork seal replacement

No special tools other than maybe an air-impact whench to remove the Allen bolts in the bottom of the fork sliders. These hold the botom of the metering rods into the forks and will spin if you don't have Honda's special tool which fits down the inside of the fork tube. Air wrench spins them off no problem.

V65 Sabre has fule filter behind battery and fule shutoff valve under seat.

Loosen upper triple-clamp pinch bolt before trying to remove fork cap.

Drain oil out of fork, then remove axle and access the metering rod holder bolt at the bottom inside the area whre the axles goes. Use an air wrench and appropriate Allen bit.

Remove fork cap, being careful of the spring pressure.

Remove fork from bike and take out spring and metering rod. Pry dust seal out of fork slider and use snap-ring pliers to remove retainer from beneath dust seal. Use fork tube to hammer seal and slider bushing out of fork slider.

Replace seal and use old seal to cushion it. Make a fork seal driver from split PVC pipe and hammer seal and slider bushing back in. Remove old seal and replace retainer clip. Install dust seal.

Reinstall on bike and install spring. With bike properly supported, stand on pegs and use ratchet, extension and socket to apply pressure to spring and thread cap carefully onto top of fork tube. Reinstall metering rod holder bolt in bottom of fork using thread-locker and air-wrench. Don't over-tighten; just ue high speed to conteract tendency of metering rod to spin inside slider.

Remove fork cap again and fill to appropriate level with 5 weight fork oil (Pro Honda SS-7 or equivalent). Use turkey-baster to remove excess oil to proper level (5 1/2 to 7 inches fully compressed depending on damping quality desired).

Fork oil capacity for a 1982 Honda 750 Sabre??

I found the answer on Wiki Answers.

It says :

right 360 c.c. SAE 10
left 380 c.c. SAE 10

I wouldn't use sae 10 however, Honda suggests 5w fork oil. Just changed the fork seals on mine.

Need to change the fork oil on a 2001 honda sabre 1100

do not compress the fork springs you must take the pressure off the springs by jacking up front end of the bic this will take some of the pressure off but be careful when removing the fork bolts there will still be some spring pressure there. drain all oil out of the shocks then you have to find out the right amount of oil and grade you need for your specific bic. hope this helps
