2000 Honda, VFR 800. Clutch began to slip when in gear, sometimes worse than others. One time clutch would not engage at all, had to tow. At home with engine cool, clutch worked fine. Clutch springs?

Hi, Daniel and the usual suspects are:
1. Clutch controls improperly adjusted.
2. Insufficient clutch spring tension.
3. Friction discs or steel discs are worn or warped

Hi. My problem is that i dont know hw to tighten my chain of my nc30 vfr 400r.can u please assist me in telling me how i go about in doing that?

hi, yes i can help. the chain is adjusted by turning the ecentric nut at the back of the rear sprocket, if you look carefully you will see a large caselated nut, you will need a C spanner to perform this operation, undo the 17mm bolts in the rear hub to alow the ecentric to turn, place your spanner on the nut and pull upwards from the rear of the machine untill you reach a prefered chain tension of about 30mm slack, then reetighten the bolts in the midle of the eecsentric rear hub.WARNING DO NOT USE A CHISEL OR SCREWDRIVER ONLY A PROPER C SPANNER SHOULD BE USED ON THIS NUT.

Just purchased a 99 vfr honda and was wondering how to adjust chain ?

Should be adjusters just behind the rear axle. You loosen the axel bolt and turn the adjusters, making sure to keep them equal. Do not overtighten, as the chain needs some slack for the suspension to move without stretching the chain. You should get the owner's manual to set the chain tension properly.

Were do you adgust headlight on 2001 vfr 800 f1 as mot says not right thanks

there are small holes on the upper black cowl, you will need to insert a long  X-head screw driver in there. Turn for horizontal adjustment

There are two more slots on the headlight assemble - which can be accessed from under the front cowl. X head screw driver or a 8mm spanner can be inserted. Turn for vertical adjustment

Chane slack

Slacken the wheel nut a couple of turns ,then simply adjust tension with the chain adjusters at the rear of the swingarm legs. Look carefully you will see notches marked on both sides of the swingarm by the wheel spindle these must be the same on both sides, your manual will tell you the chain slack for your bike.probably about 25-35mm put a ruler up to the chain and using finger pressure push up on the chain ,this is the chain slack. Once done tighten the wheel nut up to correct torque setting.( manual or call local dealer),then replace split pin with new through the wheel nut. Double check all your work no loose nuts, then sit on the bike get a friend to wiggle the chain there should be small slack as first meashured 25-35mm again, if not re-try,once experienced you will do it first time.

Is there an adjustable chain tensioner

The rear wheel hub is eccentrically mounted and held in position by a pinch bolt. Simply slacken off the pinch bolt rotate the hub using the C spanner supplied in the tool kit, retighten, check tension in accordance with the sticker on the chain guard and you are in business.
