Question about 2001 Yamaha XVS 1100 Dragstar

Can any one outthere help me with this prob??? My 2000 custom v-star 1100 has been has been dieing whilst out cruisn, i wait 5 mins then get har goin again with starter, then she cuts out again 2 ks down the road. Won't go using starter & have to push start her to get her movin. Have since replaced oil & filter, spark plugs,air & fuel filter are all good,now wont start using elec starter but got her goin by push start, has my battery had it or???? help!!!

With your engine off, measure the battery's poles with a voltmeter and you should not see less than 12,5 V.If you do, your battery needs a good charging or replacement.
Then start the engine anyway you can and measure the battery's poles again with a voltmeter to make sure that you read 13,5-14,5V.If you don't, means that the regulator/rectifier failed and need to be replaced.In this case measure your generator coils too.

Bisides, to disconnect the cables that come from the generator, they are underneath the seat and are three of color white.Start the motorcycle without accelerate.Verify of two in two the cables, care that is alternating current, then has to give a voltage around the 40 -50 volts.If this is correct, the generator this well.

2000 Vstar 1100 classic will not start


Hi, Karl and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

1. Enrichner system plugged, not properly functioning or improperly operated.
2. Fuel overflow line pinched or clogged.
3. Restricted fuel supply.
4. Gas cap and or fuel tank not venting properly.

Hard starting when hot, 1100 v star


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or have an improper gap or are partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition.
3. Battery nearly discharged, should have 12.5 volts.
4. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Throttle controls not adjusted correctly.
6. Water or dirt in the fuel system.
7. Water or dirt in the carburetor.*
8. Intake air leak.
9. Fuel tank vent hose and vapor valve plugged, or fuel line closed off, restricting fuel flow.*
10. Enricher valve inoperative.*
11. Engine lubricant to heavy (winter operation).
12. Ignition is not functioning properly (possible sensor failure).
13. Faulty ignition coil.
14. Valves sticking.
* Carbureted models.
