How do you replace rear brakes on 2000 electra-glide standard


remove right side saddle bag, remove 2 screws to release brake caliper from caliper bracket. remove caliper from brake disc. caution do not operate brake pedal with caliper removed. slowley push the 2 caliper piston back so new pads will fit on rotor. also buy pads from harley much better than after market install in reverse order torque caliper to 75 -100 inch lbs. and caliper bolts to
43-48 ft lbs.

Changing brake pad


ok on the front calipers youll have a slot on the middle back with a flat head screwdriver pry the caliper towards the outside of the rotor.( cheap way to compress caliper) or buy caliper compressor take the two bolts outta the caliper on the sides remove pads and compress caliper piston with compressor for a walk through email. customsouth676@yahoo.com

Small rapid vibrations will sound like a squeal, like chalk on a black board! There is a product that is placed on the bake of the brake pads that will absorb this vibration. You can use silicon in a tube or gasket silicon in place. Nick name is "brake spooge"

>http://www.drumhillcycle.com/< Try this link for used parts. I would not use Aluminum rotors. To stop the squeak I would try a different brake pad. But you can take the pads off and file off the leading edge chamfer it a bit with a rasp. Not a lot but give it a 45 deg. both of the leading edges.

Front brakes on my yamaha ttr 125 wont work


First. Check the brake fluid level.
Second. Look for leaks in the lines and calipers.
Third. Check the brake pads.
Fourth. If pads worn, pull and replace
Fifth. If pads are okay and all works above the calipers.
Time to pull the calipers and rebuild.
Go to local dealer buy some parts and clean.
Rebuild

Replacing stock or worn brake pads is the quickest way to get increased braking power out of a tired system. Various manufacturers make all kinds of different types of replacement brake pads for today's motorcycles. Some claim to last longer, while others claim to give more feel and braking power. However, be forewarned that the manufacturer of your motorcycle put a lot of time and effort into developing your braking system, and there is no telling what a different type of pad material might do to your rotors or how well different pads will work with the overall design and setup of your bike. If you have any doubts, then stick with genuine factory parts. Removing the calipers from the rotors is the first step in checking your brake pads. In dealing with your front disc brakes, first remove the Front Caliper two main bolts that attach the calipers to the forks. Once the calipers are free you can slide them off of the brake discs and inspect the amount of pad material and look for anything out of the ordinary. If there is less than 1/8 inches of pad thickness left then they should be replaced
