Put the bike in 4th or 5th gear, and place a board across the swing arm, through the spokes, so it lays across both sides of the arm as near the rim as possible. Then crank the sprocket off. It's a right hand thread, so turn it counter-clockwise to loosen.
the wiring or components are worn causing resistence--getta repair manual for the detailed tests----------also when at home run an electric fan at motor when stopped--it cools it fast and gives air cooled engines 3 times the life span
push the kick start through until you get to a hard spot(TDC) then hold the decompresser and kick it just a little more to get it past top dead centre. release the lever then one good kick, do not touch the throttle, even hold the bar not the grip so your not tempted to give it a squirt.
If it also has the hot start lever, or button this is for when the bike is quite hot and it leans out the mixture for starting, activate the lever and start the bike, then release the lever. This also helps if youve had a little lie down and the bike is flooded
what also helps starting is new spark plug clean air filter new oil check valve clearances a small squirt of upper cylnder lube in the tank
It would be possible but probably too expensive, there are some private compliance certifying companies that do the compliance plates for many of the low volume imports. but you would need most of the WR electrics and muffler. Easier to start with a WR and fit the YZ cams.
So even if you can find a WR wreck that has the compliance plate and rebuild it with the YZ bits,it would still need the WR;s engine number
maybe, now this is just a guess! but your starter shaft is just spinning and not engaging properly..check starter or solenoid to starter wire connections are that they are on solid, and no corrosion, measure bat volt!!!... should read 12.4v "minimum"! if not battery is either going bad or might need a charge...correct voltage reading should be 12.7v to 13volt.
does it have a fuel pump ?...it could be just priming itself..when the pump is already full you cant really hear the noise that much. Does the noise go away after riding for awhile and then restart it?
Open the air box, clean it from extra oil, renew the air filter if you have to and without the air box-air filter (or opened) try to start the bike while sraying with a carb cleaner spray through the air box towards the carbs.Don't spray too much.Little bit each time and do not twist the gas grip.Choke it too if you want.It may help.Of course before all that set the oil level to normal.
