21 hp kohler courage sv610-3213 has no spark. Replaced coil and still no spark.

First install a known good spark plug and check.

If still not firing disconnect the coil kill wire and test.

If still not firing and the flywheel magnets are good and strong then you have another bad coil. In this case put a voltmeter between the kill wire and ground. Now slowly cycle the ignition switch if any voltage spikes shows up then you a bad ignition that it has fried another coil. If this is the case then you must replace the ignition switch before you install another or the same thing will happen again

These ignition coils are not designed to have anything other ground applied the kill terminal. Applying the battery voltage at anytime will kill it ie intentional application of 12V.

Not getting spark. replaced coil on 02 wide glide

LT side of the coil needs a breaker to fire, either its out of adjustment or is faulty. In the old days this was a set of contact points, cheap and easy to fix, nowadays its electronic and not user serviceable so if its faulty - sell the house!

01 dyna wide glyde no spark

Hi Anonymous, if you have a CKP sensor it needs compression to send correct signal to the ICM/ECM, make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Battery voltage below 8.7 volts, loose or broken battery cables especially ground cable to frame.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, MAP or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Security alarm failing to disarm.

Spins over but will not start. Engine light is on and clicking from under the speedometer.

I think there is a curcuit breaker under the speedometer on a Wide Glide. Use a test light and check to see if you have voltage to the coil. If so, this should not be the problem but if you don't have any voltage at the coil, you may have a short in the ignition wiring somewhere.

Good luck

1984 Ford F150 turning over but not getting fire

Good battery, good starter. Leaves spark and fuel.
1. Remove 1 spark plug wire from a plug. Hold near engine block while someone "cranks" the engine.
- Spark (yes/no)
If yes, issue is fuel. If no, remove distributor cap and check for cracks. Also clean inside to remove rust and dirt. Besure that inside of distributor cap is reasonably clean and rust free. After that, reinstall cap.
Try to start engine. IF it is exactly same symptom.....
Check input voltage to coil (high voltage source for distributor). Is 12volts present? If not, troubleshoot wiring between battery source and coil. Be sure to include the fuse for "ignition" in fuse box.
If yes.....Confirm high voltage is present at center (input) wire to distributor (CAUTION:- 30,000 volts could be present... do NOT touch bare wire.) Use insulated plyers or similar to place this center wire near engine block to check for spark. Note that this voltage source is powered on as soon as the ignition key is in the "run" position.

Replace coil if no high voltage is coming out. Replace distributor cap and rotor if high voltage is coming in to it, but not leaving and getting to spark plugs.

-------------
Confirm fuel is getting to intake.
I spray starting fluid into intake while cranking engine. It will "fire" if all else is good.
If it "pops" or fires, then you have a fuel feed problem... between tank and intake manifold, shoot fuel filter, fuel pump and otherwise confirm that gas is moving to intake from gas tank.

Good luck.
