My top end needs to be rebuilt on a 02 yamaha big bear is this something i can do or how much should this cost

I would say that as you are asking questions in here, rather than reading the manual or subscribing to a model-specific forum, you are the kind of person that is looking for the easy answers, so no, it isn't something you should attempt yourself.

I apologize - my answer to the previous question didn't really clarify your actual question - Your VIN can be found along the frame rail - left hand side - about a foot or so ahead of your left foot guard -

If you can read your VIN - and here's a tip to know you're getting the whole number and it's not rusted away a digit; your second digit should be a (Y) - if you write down your VIN, second digit is Y so you know the placement is right - the 10th digit is the year. And here are the breakdowns for that 10th Digit:

How to leaking carb


More than likely something is hung up. Fuel is not being regulated.

Trying to take apart Front wheel cyclinder on 1995 Yamaha Big bear ATV, so it can be rebuilt


If it is like a car and you want the pistons out. Dump out brake fluid and put some type penetrating oil inside for a short time. Use compressed air to blow pistons out. Stay away from the ends of the cylinder so you don't get hit.

Timing needs to be reset how do i do it


go on youtube and look up the specific quad but usually you take off your timing cover on the head and put the notch to the top of the head and there should be a big flathead bolt thing to unscrew on the bottom end of your motor and un screw that and look for something that is carved in there like "TDC" "T" top dead center align it so they are both straight and make sure to loosen your chain that's usually on the head it should stick out or a bolt or some thing and take it off and that pretty much it

Hey i got a tickin in the top end of my yamaha big bear 350 and trying to troubleshoot what it is any tips?


Are you in the right section...this is for amplifiers.
If you have an ATV or something - well, make sure it has enough oil because the cams will click if there isn't enough oil to adjust cam shaft gap - and make sure the spark plugs are tight - they can get loose and make a clicking sound.
Besides that, I am at a loss...come back when your Yamaha stereo is messed up!

It is a pretty big job for a weekend mechanic. You will need some special tools > Impact driver, torque wrench, expanding 'C' ring pliers, case splitter and flywheel puller. The entire engine, top end and bottom end must be torn down. Don't try it without the manual. The clicking noise is probably a broken tooth on a gear. ALWAYS replace gears in sets, ALWAYS. The grinding is most likely a bad bearing.

if its not the tappets it is sadly proberly the small end bearing,check to see if there is play on the piston and change the bearing,it is quite a big job,but if you think you can do it but need a manual carlsalter.com has load of motorcycle manuals

I hear a clicking noise in my R6 (2003) engine while its running. I am not sure whqt it is. Please help me figure it out!!!! Thanks in advance.


Either the big end- or the top end bearings are almost dead. I've seen this on many bikes including my own GSXR. It's not really something you should attemt to fix yourself, it's a massive job. Rather take it to a shop, and let them check it out for you... Hope that helps
