No you cannot.Each ECU has it's own immobilizer unit and therefor it's own keys.If you try to do that the ECU will lock 'cause it assumes that someone is trying to steal the bike.

Motorhispania rx125

HI Reece,

I had the same problem with my RX125r, the speedo would jump all over the place and cause the bike to buck and jump. Try looking on the speed sensor cable for any signs of damage. mine had a small tear right next to the fron wheel which allowed for water ingress causeing the speed sensor to read the incorrect value.

I bought a new cable for about 30 pounds and its been fine ever since, still occasionally get the CDI NO CDI error though. Hope this is of some use

My motorbike takes while to start, and when it does it has no power

Starting problem and low power in Yamaha YZ 125 can be related to bad timing, please get the timing chain in engine adjusted for proper engine timing. Also get the electrical and CDI unit checked. If the spark plug is old then change that too even if its working. If you want to check the plug for its fitness then you can do it like the way its described here in this article: http://www.thenetguruz.com/auto/diy-fix-for-car-or-bike-engine-knocking/

Can you use your standard coils when installing cdi to your motorbike

mostly depends on your CDI manufacturer. Most will work with the standard coils. That said if you are into that much, why not put in a hotter coil and get a little more performance.

Peace

Blowing ignitor [cdi]

Hi, Gemmaj_p123 what is your ignition fuse doing, if your blowing CDI's then I would look for a short coming from the CDI on it's way to the coils, cracked or worn or chafed wiring for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Kawasaki, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.
For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the blue links below. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

The motorbike starts to backfire and after a while it completely stops as if the battery is overheated

You can trouble shooting it with these methods..
1.check your spark plug.
2. If it is CDI operated,replace it.
3. If it is still Contact Point operated:Check its timing,and if you sure the timing is good but nothing's happened,try to replace the condenser.

Motorbike will not start.Yamaha 400cc Diversion,ran for a while it is an electrical problem.The bikes is in Thailand could it be the cdi unit or maybe a distributor fault,any help would be great. ...

two things can do this . 1 is the igniter 2 is the voltage regulator . the igniter made by hitachi has a
lousey souldering job whitch is common place you will have to fix this bad connection a real hair puller.
you may be better off to get a radio tech to do the cold soulder joint repair a good tech can spot this
condition. next if you have crossed polairity while jump starting this bike with the key on the voltage
regulator is toast as well.i know i have a xj750rh repairing circut boards is a pain.the igniter componeants have been coated with contact cement and has to be soaked in acetone if you want to get the board out.but this should not be nessary.

Gilera runner stolen, changed barrel/immobiliser, no spark

There's a procedure to recode new keys, so the immobilizer let's you use the new key, if (and only if) you have the master key (red). Look at this PDF:
http://www.wotmeworry.org.uk/manuals/Gilera%20Nexus/Gilera%20Nexus%20500%20Mk1%20Workshop%20Manual.pdf

Look for "Setting the Circuit" in the PDF.
Good luck!

My battery isnt getting charged on my motorbike from engine

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, your described problem indicates a charging issue. This points to the bike's battery not charging. Suspects would be:
  • voltage regulator (most likely);
  • connectors to voltage regulator (likely). Check/clean corrosion/burnt marks;
  • stator and/or the wires coming from it (least likely).
A CDI is a capacitive discharge ignition. This is an electronic module that fires the ignition coil.

Parts would depend on where you are. Often, other riders would provide information for parts source.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
