Engin stalls when cluch is released

Just rebuilt bottom end and also put a new clutch cable on seems to have to much slack

This can only be adjusted on the handle.

Hi Have a broken clutch cable on my 1996 suzuki vitar but can't seem to pull it out from the Clutch release arm which has a joint pin attacted

take the bottom of first, just did 2 .myself. not long ago

when the bottom end nut is removed (adjuster nut)
the the cable goes slack, if not wrecked inside and siezed.
then the top goes loss and unhooks

How do I adjust a new clutch cable on a 2005 Yamaha v star 1100?


The normal method is once the cable is lubed and located at the engine and lever ends, the cable adjusters at both ends need to be adjusted to give the correct inner cable slack. I normally apply grease to the outer sheath metal crimps (this ensures they move in the adjusters). I then make sure the engine end adjuster has a small amount of clearance between it and the clutch rod. The final adjustments are then made using the cable adjusters at the lever and engine ends. You need to have about 10mm free play at the lever end. Check the manufacturers hand book for the exact dimension. Please make sure you route the cable the same as the old one, also when you pull in the lever it should close quite sharply when released. If it returns slowly or is stiff to operate then recheck cable route and try adding more lube to the inner cable.

How do i change the clutch cable on 1987 fxlr


To change the clutch cable, find the clutch cable adjuster and slide the cover up or down so you can get to the adjuster. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster barrel inwards to get as much slack in the cable as possible. Disconnect the cable at the handlebar lever. Drain the oil out of the transmission. Remove the bolts that hold the chrome endcap, clutch release mechanism cover, from the transmission. Look inside the transmission end cover and disconnect the clutch cable from the release mechanism. Note how the "hook" is positioned holding the cable to the release mechanism. Unscrew the clutch cable end from the end cover. While you are in this area, replace the clutch throw out bearing and retainer clip. Take note of the routing of the cable from the handlebar to the transmission. Replace the cable along with a new O-ring on the transmission end of the cable and install a new gasket. Torque the bolts to 100 inch pounds. Adjust the cable adjuster until you have about an 1/8" freeplay at the handlebar grip.

How to change clutch cable for 78 suzuki gs750


Remove the gas tank then run the new cable along side the old cable. Unhook the old cable at the engine then hook up the new cable. Now remove the old cable from the bike. Give the cable adjusters all the slack you can get then hook the cable into the clutch handle. Pull the outer cable outward and hook the end of the outer cable on the outside of the adjuster. Pull the lever in all the way then release the lever while pulling on the outer cable. This should allow you to snap the cable end into the adjuster fitting. Below is a generic photo. 2004 FZS 1000 Clutch slipping problem.


Sounds like the friction material bonded on the friction plate are coming off, time to do a clutch job.

My aprilia rs 125 is ok out of gear but when u put it in gear it dies and have 2 rev the crap out of it


Mate I had this problem, it was the compression, had to get new piston and rings. good luck.

2008 Harley davidson cluch cable leak


There's nothing in a clutch cable to leak. It's simply a cable housing with a twisted cable inside of it. There is a seal to keep the transmission fluid out of the inside of the cable. But, if you're leaking trans fluid at the lower end, read on.

Now, down where the cable goes into the chrome clutch release mechanism on the right side of the bike, there is an O-ring on the cable to prevent trans oil from leaking out. Try tightening the cable right where it goes in. If this doesn't stop it, you'll have to remove the cable and replace the O-ring.

To replace the O-ring, you will have to remove the chrome clutch release mechanism. First drain the transmission oil by removing the drain plug. You'll probably have to remove at least part of the exhaust system to gain access to the release mechanism. Then remove the bolts that hold the clutch release mechanism on. Turn the release mechanism over to where you can disconnect the clutch cable for the release ramp. Turn the clutch release mechanism off of the cable. Replace the O-ring, put on a new end gasket, and reassemble in reverse order. Torque the bolts that holds the chrome clutch release mechanism on to 100 inch pounds. Refill the tranny with oil.

Clutch cable


On the transmission, where the cable adjusts, loosen the adjuster enough to have enough slack in the cable to remove the hardware holding the cable on the release lever. Then from under the dash, unhook the cable from the clutch pedal. Lift the cable end up off the pedal hook.

SR125 Clutch lever awkward for a small hand to operate.


if you change the leaver to a flater one you may fine that the cluch dont fully disengage and as its made of cheep aluminium it may not bend easly without braking unless you get it hot the only thing i can think of is let the cluch cable off a bit it will have to much slack on it but the leaver will come in a bit you could still pack out the slack on the handel bars if there is no ajuster on the cable you will need to cut away a bit of the outer cable to give you the slack,,
but if this dont work it will mean you need a new cable or fit in an ajuster
