I have a Fender Frontman 15R. It doesn't work at all. No sound. I read reviews about it and none say that it does this. Is it worth fixing and what might be the common problem? Thanks, Aileen

The power amp chip has probably blown. It is a TDA2050 cost about $3. They don't even use thermal grease on these to help conduction to heat sink. Make sure you do use thermal grease when replacing. Also be careful of pluggin anything OTHER than headphones in the headphone jack. It can result in blowing the amp chip.

It plays for about 30 minutes and then just stops, as if overheating. After a cooldown period, it starts up again for another short period. Suggestions? Any recommended vents I could cut in...

The small Fender products often have a TDA2050 power chip in them. The chip is on a thin aluminum heatsink and is intended for light use. If you try to sound like a bass guitar amp with this, the chip will go into thermal protection mode. Cutting vents will not help very much, and pushing it to these levels will destroy the speaker eventually. If you need more power, buy a bigger amp. This one would be suitable for a 10 foot by 10 foot room.

I am attempting to repair a Kustom K100A-1 guitar amp. I found one shorted output transistor, an RCA 36892, which crosses with a NTE 130. Do I need to replace all 5 outputs with matched transistors, or can...

I don't have a schematic for this unit, however good design would not demand matched transistors.
If a transistor has shorted, USUALLY mating transistors have been damaged. I am not sure how "5" outputs are configured as usually there is symetry and an even number. If the "5" are all on one side and there are mating trnsistors of another number, then likely there is damage to more components and probably back one stage in the drivers or even farther.
Hint: when re-powering this after repair, put a 100 Watt light bulb in series with the power into the unit to act as a limiting fuse that resets without driving heavy current into the unit causing more damage due to failed parts that were not eliminated in the first reapir.

Do I need to buy a seperate headphone jack adapter in order to put my headphones in? The headphone jack seems too small. If so what should I buy?

What type of headphone connector do you have? The Yamaha keyboard headphone jack is a 3.5 mm stereo jack (like on a computer headphone jack). So if the headphones have a 1/4" plug, you need a 1/4" to 3.5 mm adapter.

I hope this helps.

I need to know the polarity diagram for the ypt-220 so I can use a replacement power tip

The YPT220 is similar to many of the PSR keyboards and will use the same adapter. MOST, like your YPT220, use an adapter with the center pin positive AND are protected by a series diode in the keyboard such that damage will NOT occur if wrong polarity is used. You should use an adapter that provides 10 to 12 volts with positive on the pin and negative on the shell capable of 1 amp (1000ma).

Tascam CD Gt1mkii CD Guitar Trainer - skipping around quite a lot, on any cd .unusable. can it be fixed easily and cheaply?

VERY carefully clean the lens with a QTip and 99% isoprophyl alcohol. Use ONLY 99% and it can be a bit hard to find.
Be careful to NOT snag the QTip cotton on the carriage or parts holding the lens... clean ONLY the lens, very gently. Let dry thouroughly before trying it again.

I think my crossfader stop working for some reason. when im on side B i get sound then i slide over to side A and i still get sound from side be,,, all the assign are right also the bass mid and hi kill...

I suspect one end of the crossfader pot has broken from the element. The fader probably costs less than $5.

You likely will have to remove all the knobs and some screws to seperate the board with the fader from the front panel so you can replace the fader.

VERIFY the pot is bad with an ohmmeter before dis-assembling however.

You MAY be in luck. It looks like the cross fader has a connector which MIGHT allow you to remove it or certainly only a small board for replacement, seeing these take abuse.

It appears that the cross fader is a dual 100K type B taper.
