Sounds like the contacts in the switch are bad, very common on older bikes, that button gets pushed alot!1...........bypass the switch by touching the in and out hot wires and see if it cranks, if so the button needs replaced

08 Vulcan 500. I have replaced the starter clutch. When I install the components on the bike, they do not engage and turn the engine, what could this be? The key for the stator isn't damaged either.

2008 kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD will not turn over

Hi, Mike before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
14. Check for engine trouble codes.

My push button start switch not working on M/C..

Sounds like a bad relay... the relay switches all power to the solenoid to start the bike... when you let off of the starter it turns the lights etc back on. If the relay goes bad... starter button will not work, and no power to the headlight/taillight/dashlights... the relay is fairly cheep, 10 to 15 its a pretty cheap test to see if that is what is wrong.

94 jeep cherokee will not turn over

Bad neutral safety switch, starter relay, starter fuse or bad ignition switch. You will have to check each of those things to find what's keeping the current from reaching the starter, when you try cranking.

I have a 1999 vulcan nomad and stopped and turned it off and when i went to crank it would do nothing. I have checked everything and even replaced the magnetic switch (starter selonoid) and still...

Have you checked if the power is reaching the starter ?
And the earth lead from yhe motor to the frame for corrosion or looseness ?
If the power is getting to the starter when you press the button and the leads are all clean then the next thing to check would be for a dead field on the sarter motor. Remove the starter and turn the armature around a bit then see if it works. this can also be the case if the brushes are worn.
Whether you can get the motor to work or not if you are satisfied that power is present at the stater motor when you activate the starter button, then the starter motor needs a service or swap. Do not trust it if you get it to spin after turning it as it will let you down at the worst possible time according to Murphy.

I assume the engine is not seized and the battery is charged and good. Unplug the two small wires going to the starter solenoid and push the starter button . With a voltage meter on the wires from the harness you should have continuity.Reconnect the wires. Push the starter button, if you hear a click from the solenoid, the button is good. Now , jump the two cable posts on the starter solenoid. If the starter works you have a bad solenoid. If you push the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works, you need new starter brushes. If anything else in the starter is keeping it from working you need a new starter , the starter parts are probably not available from the manufacturer.

If you take a voltage reading at the battery when you are pushing the starter button, my guess is you will have 11-12vdc until you push the button and it will drop off. It sounds like your battery doesn't have enough current (cranking amps) to engage the starter. That is why the headlight will work until you try to start the bike and then the light goes out. It is pretty common for motorcycle batteries to go bad every 2-3 years. How old is the battery?

Car won't crank

although your ignition switch would have power go to the accessories, it still could not turn over. it happened to me, after a week of trouble shooting i went and found a starter button and spliced it into the ignition wires to see if that was the problem, lo and behold i turned the key on to run and pressed the button. and she fired right up.. if you know anyone with mechanical skill. its pretty simple to set up. took me 10 min to do.

good luck
