Question about 2000 Harley Davidson XL 1200 C Sportster Custom

Neutral and oil light flashes bright then dim an relay under seat clicks on and off but with no start up to engine.Have 12.4v on battery 97 1200 sportster kill switch works fine and so does all lighting

Check for a bad ground or a bearwire.

99 F1 50 won't start


Do the headlamps work? Any component that doesn't work, if the component is fuse protected, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite to check for voltage. There are fusible links, one of the positive battery cables goes to fusible links.
There should be a way to test starter motor to see if it will crank the engine. Two voltage circuits at starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot when starter relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through engine block. I did look at wiring diagram, not sure of your engine size, but the relay had no terminal numbers in the diagram, sometimes that means the relay is soldered into the fuse box, so you can't just pull it out.
You might be able to use a long shank screwdriver and short the two voltage terminals at the starter motor, it may crank the engine. At least you know the starter motor will crank the engine. If you try that make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

Hi I have 2 peugeot speedfight 2, on one of them the oil light was flashing I filled it up but didn't stop flashing


Low oil is indicated by a steady red light (not flashing) so I guess the oil level is not the problem.
Start off by just turning the ignition on and don't start the engine. You should only have the usual power lights and the oil light should be steady as no oil is being recirculated. If it flashes at this point, it is nothing to do with the oil pressure and points to an electrical issue elsewhere. If it is steady then start the engine and let it tick over. As you know, the red light should go out or at worst glow dimly until you rev the engine and that makes it go out as the oil pressure increases. If it starts flashing now I would suspect a relay somewhere clicking in and out and lighting the bulb. It is possible the immobiliser is playing up, especially if the battery has been disconnected, not enough of a problem to stop the engine from starting but enough to throw up an error somewhere.

Insaled new battery starter wont do nothing


Yes they do have anti-theft system systems ! Are there any lights lit or flashing on the Dash , anything like SECURITY ? Turn on the headlamps , are they bright ? When you try to start the car do the lights get dim ? In the under hood fuse / relay box is a starter relay .If you knew how you could test for power an control an even try jumping pin 30 an 87 to see if the engine cranks over ! If you look on the side of the relay there is a diagram of what number the pins are ! Should be pin 30 that's battery + voltage , Pin 87 goes to the starter , Pins 85 an 86 are the control side of the relay ! One of them has battery + voltage also an the other is control from the PCM - powertrain control module - engine computer ! There is also the transmission range sensor or park neutral switch.If it's not in park or neutral it won't let it start either !

Had starter tested and it is good. had battery tested and it is good also. checked all fuses and all relays all good. engine will not crank. i think the ignition switch is loose could this be the problem ?...


There is a switch that only allows the starter to work if the gearshift is in neutral or park.
Try wiggling the gearshift while you try to start the engine. If that causes the starter to engage briefly, you'll need to either re-align the switch or replace it.

Clicks when attempting to start


If it is just one click per attempt, it may be a bad solenoid on the starter or fire wall relay
If it rapid clicking, it is probably a low battery charge.
Turn on your head lights and check for brightness, leave them on and attempt to crank engine, if the lights go dim, the battery is probably dead. If they stay bright, one of the solenoids ( relays) is probably bad.

Engine shut down on freeway. Good battery, low oil but engine not seized, start relay clicks, but when key turned, nothing-headlights don't dim, idiot lights don;t dim, Nothing. 1997 Toyota Tercel


low oil boiling water sometime automatically stop the engine for further damage. stop the engine wait for sometime. fill up oil/water. check fuse/switches for engine/lights/dimmer. re start.

chec fuses-bad ones can appear normal-inspec if connecs r tite at starter n solenoid area-n also relays--starter may be bad ur bike is 10yrs-test it--that electric clutch may be malfunctionin too
