The fuel line(the bigger of the two)which will come from either between the carbs or offthe left hand carb,is connected to the main fuel tap(larger outlet) and the vacuum line will come from the front of one of the carbs(on the engine side)and should be tapped into the inlet manifold, this pipe (smaller dia)goes to the other outlet on the fuel tap, these are a vacuum pump inside the fuel tap assembly

78 kawasaki kz650 replace vacuum lines now pipes overheat and glow orange? Any ideas of what the problem cld be ?

Most likely one of the new vacuum lines came loose leaving you with a vacuum leak. The engine pulls in extra air through the leak, but since that air does not pass through the carb venturi it does not draw in extra fuel with it. Therefore the engine runs lean. Lean engines run hot.

78 kz650 exhaust pipes overheating turning orange after replacing all vacuum lines ? What cld it be?

heating exhaust pipes is either too lean or incorrect timing allowing unburnt fuel to burn in the exhaust pipes . Check valve clearance for the exhaust valves.

The fuel lines pulled out of my 1978 GS550 when I was replacing the clutch cable. I need help hooking them back in the right places. I don't know which are fuel lines and which are vacuum and how they...

You will have two lines coming from the petcock on the bottom of the gas tank. the small one goes to the front of the number one carb, and the larger one plugs onto the fuel rail in the middle of the 4 carbs on the back. The lines that run between the 1 and 2 carbs and the 3and 4 carbs are just overflow lines, so they don't hook on anywhere else.
