Caution: Allow the engine to cool before
servicing the secondary air injection AIR system in order to reduce the
chance of severe burns. 1. Remove the clamp from the check valve. 2. Disconnect the AIR hose from the check valve. 3. Remove the check valve from the left side AIR pipe. 4. Remove the left AIR pipe from the exhaust manifold. 5. Before replacing a check valve, test the valve for proper operation. 5.1. Install a vacuum pump to the nipple side of the check valve, AIR pump side.
5.2. Pump the vacuum pump to 10 inches Hg and observe the gauge.
5.3. Replace the check valve if the vacuum bleeds down to zero within 5 seconds.
Installation Procedure
Notice:
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners
requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking
compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use
paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener
joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque
and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct
tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in
order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
1.Install the check valve onto the AIR pipe. Tighten the check valve to the AIR pipe to 23 N·m (17 lb ft). 2.Connect the AIR pipe to the exhaust manifold. Tighten the AIR pipe to the exhaust manifold to 20 N·m (15 lb ft). 3. Install the AIR hose to the check valve. 4. Install the check valve clamp.
It is quite normal to have a small amount of oil in the airbox, however exsess oil in the airbox will find its way into the engine and burn hence smoke, remove the engine breather pipe from the engine to airbox and clean then replace, exsess crankcase pressure is caused by pressure leaking past the piston or rings, during detanation, dismantling of the top end of the engine is required for inspection, poss new piston and rebore.
hi, this is the best way to replace the choke cable, first remove the riders seat, 2 alun key bolts at the rear of the seat turn up the corners of the seat and you will find the bolts, undo the tank fiking screws at the front of the tank and then prop up the fuel tank , remove the air box by undoing the 10mm bolt in the front of the airbox, then undo the clip/clips holding the airbox rubbers to the carburetors, lift of the airbox, now you will see the carburettors and the location of the choke cable sliding mechanisam,
undo from the handlebar the left hand switch unit and pull the 2 halfs apart you will then be able to remove the nipple of the old cable from the opperating lever, replace the new cable using a small amount of grease on the new nipple, then thread the new cable through the frame following the exact same route as the old cable and connect it to the carbs and check the opperation of the choke lever, pulling it on and off making sure when the choke is off that you have a small amount of frree play in your cable and the lever on the carb end is all the way home, if you are happy you havereplaced the control cable correctly, you can then reasemble the airbox, lower the tank and replace the seat, finaly recheck the operation of the controls before riding the machine on the road, regards, paul
Changing the oil pan gasket on a GMC Yukon XL is realtively simple, but does require removal of the exhaust pipe. You will need a new oil pan gasket and a new exhaust pipe flange gasket. Put the car on ramps or jacks to access the undercarriage. Remove the exhaust pipe by removing the 3 nuts holding the exhaust pipe flange to the exhaust manifold. These nuts often rust and prior application of penetrating oil may be required to remove them without damage. Once the pipe is unbolted, work the exhaust system loose from the hanging brackets. In most cases the entire system does not have to be removed since there is enough room to remove the pan with only the front hangers removed. Drain the oil from the engine Remove the 10 mm bolts holding the pan to the block. Remove the old gasket material and scrape any remaining gasket from the block and pan. Install the new gasket. Forma-Gasket or a similar product may be used in small quantities to "glue" the new gasket in place and prevent shifting while the pan is reattached to the block. Reinsall the 10 mm bolts in a cross pattern to ensure the gasket is compressed evenly. Do not overtighten the bolts. Replace the pipe to flange gasket between the exhaust pipe and the exhaust manifold with a new part. Reattach the exhuast pipe to the hangers. Install the 3 bolts connecting the pipe flange to the exhaust manifold. Fill the engine with oil.
