SOURCE: 2004 yamaha yz250 wont start.

On these two stroke motors they are pretty simple. You need 4 things to make them run. You need Spark.. Which you have. That covers the whole electrical part. You need fuel. Which is the most common thing that is making the bike not run. All it takes is a spec of dirt in the main jet to keep the bike from running. Or like you mentioned, the float is stuck in the full position. And not letting fuel in. Take the carb off and clean it with carb cleaner and blow out the jets with an air compressor. Also it needs compression. If you have a lot of hours on the engine, you might want to check the compression. If it is hard to kick over then the compression is probably ok. If it kicks over real easy then you might need to re-ring it. And the final thing that it needs is air. Make sure that the air filter is clean.

Yz250 shut down whilst riding?isnt a seized motor cause kick starter feels the same.any suggestions? Cheers

Seized motor is not the first guess when your bike suddenly stops. First guess is electrical. Is the spark plug fouled? Spark plug wire damaged? did any of the wires for the starter, ignition, or electrical system break?

Then it's on to the fuel system. Does it have fuel? is it getting from the fuel tank to the carburetor? Is the carburetor in good working order?

Only if both of these things check out is guessing that there are internal engine issues reasonable. So If I were you I'd start there.

Why does my 1997 honda accord have oil around the spark plugs?

You have to replace the Valve cover gasket. Inside the spark plug hole, midway down is a gasket, every spark plug hole has them, you cant see it because its, well a gasket pressed against two very tight suface every spark plug hole, When these leak they fil up the sprkplug cavity, as you know. Go to a parts store, spend $30 dollars on a VALVE COVER GASKET SET. If reparied properly wiil be a 100% fix. If it's a 4 cylinder honda,, a monkey with downs syndrom could do this in five minutes. V6 accord, save yourself the time, grief and heart ache, and take it to a Professional.

How do i change the spark plug on yamaha 250yzf, 2006? The coil stack hits the frame.

There is a drain hole on the side of the head that leads to the bottom side of the spark plug access hole. This allows water to drain but also lets all outside contaminants in. Often dirt, mud and crud will be packed around the base of the spark plug. After removing seat, fuel tank, and coil cap: always, ALWAYS blow contact cleaner and compressed air through both ends of the spark plug access hole before putting a socket to the plug. I have found small rocks and dirt down beside the spark plug before. If you loosen the plug before cleaning around it the off-road crud can fall down into the threads and the combustion chamber.
