    Have you checked the fuses? The alarm? The battery terminals?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

By " will not start  " I presume you mean that the starter motor will not spin. If yes:

  • try with the clutch lever pulled in and/or the side stand folded up. If it works, then the safety interlocks have to be checked;
  • if there is a clicking sound, follow the battery cable from the battery's + terminal;
  • it would end in 1 of the terminals of the starter relay;
  • while pushing on the start button, short the 2 big terminals of the starter relay on the nuts (not on the threaded portion);
  • expect a big spark;
  • if the starter motor spins when shorting the 2 terminals, the starter relay is faulty;
  • if  no spin, then the starter motor is faulty, most likely the carbon brushes.

Should the above be not applicable yo your concern, please postback and describe fully the problem.

Goodluck and thank you for asking FixYa.

    Appreciate your postback and additional information.

    Almost always, your described problem indicates that there is a loose or corroded connection from the battery's + terminal towards the ignition switch. Anything in between would then be suspect. Start by checking the main fuse and the fuse holder. In most versions, the main fuse holder would be integrated with the starter relay. It is not uncommon for the clips that holds the fuse to be corroded or loose. Check and correct as required. From the starter relay would be a red wire and a red / white wire (if I recall right).  The red wire goes to the ignition (main) switch.

    To test and verify where the missing +12 is, preferably use a test light rather than a voltmeter. With the clip end attached to the ground, test the battery's + terminal, to the starter relay terminal, the red wire from the same relay all the way to the ignition switch.

    It is of course assumed that the battery terminals and cables are clean and tightly connected to their respective attachment points and all the fuses have been checked & verified to be good.

    Would appreciate an update on results.

I have a Suzuki tl 1000 s one cylinder running colder and killing plugs and back firing what must i look for.

It sounds like a fuel problem injector is stuck fully open.I would tap each exhaust as its running to see which one is coldest ,then swap the injectors over and see.if that changes what cylinder is running if it does then it's the injector if not you have a different problem but still injector related.

Bike have spark and feul but dont want start

You already tried towing it to start it up? Did it break down near the house or did you have to have it towed home when it didn't work? You might have to have it towed to a car service.

My 2002 suzuki tl 1000 is not starting and the battery its good what could it be. when i turn the ignition nothing turn on i check the the relay an fuses and ther good

Check the ignition coil unit to start with. Is the spark blue or orange? Take sparkplug out,..put on plug cap...touch bottom edge of plug onto metal..[cyl. head], turn bike over...and check for spark color. If spark is "orange",..the coil is shot...replace it.
