I had a street bike that did that. It can be a few things. First Chang the oil and use whatever is recomened by the manufacture. other oils can make this worse. then if it still is there try adjusting the clutch plate interference you may need a manual for this one. after that it's probably a worn linkage or fork see a shop or a good manual fo radvice on your model. hope this helps

2009 Kawasaki KLX 250 will not go into gear

1. Yes, this is a major issue! Its not the shift drum cam unless its broken in half. It might be the shift forks, Won't go into any gear? Is there spring pressure in the shifter or does it flop? Is the shifter TIGHT on the shift shaft? I think its time for a professional to look at it.

Can't shift out of park.

To the RIGHT of the Shifter, there is a little door, you push a KEY down into that hole to release the Shifter

2003 explorer wont shift out of park engine starts , gear shift will not move

Your shift lock actuator is not working. This system works off of the brake light circuits. The FIRST thing to check is your brake lamps. If they are not working, that is the reason for your shifter not working. Fix the brake lamps and your shifter will shift. (Possible defective brake lamp switch).

If your brake lamps are working, then the shift lock solenoid or its circuits are defective. In this case, you can work around the problem until you can get it fixed. Turn the ignition switch one click.(Far enough to unlock the steering wheel, but not far enough to make the lights on the instrument cluster illuminate.) The shifter will then shift out of PARK. Place the shifter in NEUTRAL and start the engine. You can then shift to the desired gear to get where you need to go. If you place the shifter back in PARK, you will have to shut the ignition off and repeat the process.

I bought a 2003 R6 from this guy who said the chain broke on him. The bike only in neutral and first gear. i cant hift up from one to two or neutral to two. Plus I dont the clutch is engaging at all. once...

personally I have never heard of a chain breaking and having any affect on the transmission and shifting. although if the chain broke and caught the shifter, it may have pulled the shifter so hard that it could have bent the shifting forks inside the transmission.. this would explain most of your problems..replace the chain, and with the bike "off" and in neutral, on level ground, rock it back and fourth about 6 inches and try shifting from neutral to 1st and then back up to neutral, and then to 2nd. keep rocking the bike back and fourth while doing this and do this WITHOUT using the clutch. If it wont go to the gears easily, the shift forks are likely bent. there is a safety switch for the kickstand that will shut the bike down if the kickstand is down and bike is in gear. if the kickstand is up and releasing the clutch shuts down the bike, the chain may have damaged that as well. Hope this helps..

Transmission wont go into park

Get help, have helper hold set parking brake and hold foot brake, pop shift cable off of linkage bracket on trans, try to shift it by hand. Only starting in N may be broken internals on neutral safety switch.

Shifter lever broken...

It sounds like you bent the shift fork, or at least the shaft that penetrates the case and holds the shift lever on the outside. If you are certain you are moving the shaft and the bike won't come out of first then you will have to open up the case and see what is bent or broken inside.
