Question about 1980 Honda CX 500 A
You are going to want to use conventional (dino) oil, not synthetic. With a wet clutch (like your bike has) there is sometimes a problem with synthetic oils causing the clutch to slip.
I use Mobile 'Clean 5000' 10-40w in mine, changed every 3000 miles with a new filter.
Also, don't forget to clean out the two larger breather tubes (they should have plugs in them) that extend down from the air box when you change the oil.
Also, you can download the service manual for your bike here at www.trainwiththom.com

I use valvoline motorcycle oil. its always worked good for me. Autozone carries it for about $4 a quart.
