18 hourse power kraft with oil shooting out the air breather

I have a power kraft riding mower it is 18 horse power Briggs and Stratton twin. It sat for three years. When I wanted to put it back to use I did rebuild the carb and chang the oil and gas but when I started it up thin oil like it had gas in it came shooting out the air filter. what is wroung. It is shooting out the hose that hooks to the bottem of the air breather and connects to the moter. I think it is for reburning the exhaust

Sounds like you over filled it with oil. Only reason for oil to come out of these places.

6.5 briggs and stratton leaking motor oil through the filter area

How does it run? Is it back firing through the air filter box area? And although your stating it is oil is it actually oil or gasoline that is black due to getting dirty? Don't shoot me! I'm going on what information I'm reading what you submitted. If oil is it enough to show up quickly on the dipstick/engine oil level ? Get back to us and we can go further.

Breather blowing oil out

If there is a check valve in the breather it may be stuck. However this is usually indicative of broken rings or burned pistons(piston) . Compression bypasses rings and pistons causing excess crankcase pressure and oil spillage.

Does a briggs 18 hp twin 2 have a oil filter its a late 90's model mtd riding mower

Most likely yes. It will look like a car oil filter. It looks like a round can that is screwed to the engine.

I HAVE A 18HP BRIGGS TWIN CYLINDER AND I NEED TO KNOW WERE THE ADJUSTING SCREWS ARE

On my 18 HP, if you are facing the engine and the flywheel is on the left, the adjusting screws are all under the air breather. The best way to get at them is to take the breather mechanism off right down to the carb. They are all on the left side of the carb!

Oil in air breather

sounds like you have too much oil in the engine (should normally be around 500-600ml when there is too much oil, it gets past the piston rings and pushes it through to the head.
