Impeller seals i would like to know if you have to remove the bearing to get the inner seal out of the impeller

No should not have to u need to take the impellar off and use a micro flat head screw driver to pick it out then when you put the new one in u need to find a socket the fits the inside of the seal and press it in oil the seal and shaft first

Replacing front wheel bearings on 97 dodge 3500 2wd


If its to wheel drive than it will have a inner and outer bearing. 1. Remove the caliper 2. Remove the dust cap from the center of he rotor 3. Remove the cotter pin from the spindle 4. Remove the castellated nut 5. Remove the nut and washwer 6. Remove the outer bearing 7. Remove the rotor from the spindle 8. Remove the grease seal from the back of the rotor 9. Remove the inner bearing Clean the grease out of the rotor. Use a punch to remove the inner and outer races from the hub. Install the new races into the rotor with a seal/race driver. Pack the new bearings. Install inner bearing into rotor. Install new grease seal. Wipe old grease off of the spindle and apply a thin coat of new great. Install rotor ono spindle. Install outer bearing, washer, and nut. Tighten nut snug then back off nut a half of turn and then tighten agin just barely snug. Install castellated nut and cotter pin. YOU HAVE 2 BEARINGS INNER AND OUTER BEARING IN HUB.YOU NEED TO REMOVE BRAKE CALIPER THEN REMOVE GREASE CAP.STRAIGHTEN THE BEND COTTER PIN THEN REMOVE COTTER PIN.THEN LOOSEN REMOVE ADJUSTING NUT AND WASHER FROM END OF THE SPINDLE.PULL THE HUB OUT SLIGHTLY THEN PUSH IT BACK INTO ORIGINAL POSITION. THIS WILL FORCE THE OUTER WHEEL BEARING OFF THE SPINDLE ENOUGH SO YOU CAN REMOVE IT.PULL THE HUB OFF THE SPINDLE.USE A SCREW DRIVER TO PRY THE GREASE SEAL OUT OF THE REAR OF THE. HUB AS THIS IS DONE NOTE HOW THE SEAL IS INSTALLED.THEN REMOVE THE INNER WHEEL BEARING FROM THE HUB.

Winding noise with some water leaking from the motor seal. Water still flowing but sounds laborous.


The shaft seal more likely than not needs to be replaced. If your shaft seal has been leaking for any length of time, the bearings could be damaged and this should be replaced. The whisperflow uses a PS1000 shaft seal and is fairly easy to replace (most seals available online or at most swimming pool retail stores). It is best advised not to run the pump until you have had this inspected by a licensed pool technician or have changed out the seal.

1) Make sure breaker/power to pump is off. 2) Remove the six bolts holding the wet end to the seal plate. 3) Remove the diffuser to expose the impeller. 4) Remove the screw in the middle of the impeller by turning clockwise (left hand threads). 5) Remove the dust cap at the rear of the motor and use a wrench to hold the shaft while you remove the impeller by turning counterclockwise. 6) Once the impeller is off, remove the four bolts holding the seal plate to the motor. 7) Press the old seal out of the seal plate and clean it thoroughly. Remove the ceramic part of the seal from the impeller and clean it thoroughly as well. 8) Apply a thin coat of lube (I prefer Magic Lube or Lube Tube) to the seal plate and impeller where the new seal will go. 9) Remove the new PS1000 shaft seal from the box (being careful *NOT* to touch the ceramic or carbon face with your fingers), press the metal part into the seal plate carefully, try not to bend the metal and make sure its completely seated against the seal plate. 10) You can now install the seal plate back onto the motor and secure with four bolts. Press the ceramic part into the impeller, use cardboard or paper between your fingers and the ceramic face. 11) Once you have seated the seal into the impeller, hold the motor shaft and thread the impeller on until snug, then reinstall the stainless screw, remember it is left hand thread so you'll have to turn it counterclockwise. 12) Reinstall the diffuser over the impeller and then install the wet end onto the seal plate using the six bolts, don't overtighten them.
Check the pump for operation and you should be good to go!

Sounds like maybe your motor bearing are going bad, or have already seized up. When you say "rubber seal" are you referring to the rubber portion of the shaft seal? Either way, to remove the impeller you need to lock the motor and unscrew impeller. Depending on the motor, you remove a cap in the middle of the tailpiece and hold with a wrench, or remove a cap that covers the whole end and grab the shaft with a wrench (usually 7/16") by sliding it under one of the components (not sure exact part off top of my head have to look at it) and then turning impeller. If the impeller has a bolt or screw in the middle remove that first. It should be reverse thread so make sure you don't turn the wrong way and break or strip. If there is no screw, or after you've removed it, just spin the impeller off (it should be counter clockwise standard thread). If you can't do it by hand and assuming you don't have an impeller wrench, be very careful and use a large pliers, pipe wrench, or strap wrench to loosen it. After that you unbolt the motor from the seal plate, pull the seal plate away from motor (this removes half the seal), and then pop the other half of the seal from the seal plate. If the bearings are seized up then you'll have to replace the motor, or have it rebuilt.

Im getting a loud buzzing noise when the pump is running


could be an obstruction in the impeller, or the bearings going out. You can split the pump in two be removing the large clamp or 4-6 bolts holding the two halves together. (not the 4 bolts holding the motor to seal plate, but the the bolts holding the seal plate to the seal plate housing. once you remove the clamp or bolts, the motor with seal plate and impeller and diffuser can all be pulled back away from the pump. You need to remove the diffuser (plastic housing that goes around the impeller) usually by a series of 3 to 6 small screws. Now you can easily try and spin the impeller and check for obstructions that might have bound it. If you do not see anything stuck in the impeller, then the noise is likely coming from the motor (probably the bearings) you can replace the motor, or have it rebuilt. if your not gunna rebuild it you can deal with it as long as the noise doesn't bother you and the motor is not getting too hot

I need to reploce the front left rotor on a 1996 ford econoline van. I need to know how to remove the bearings from the old one and put in the new one. Plesae help


Once you remove the center cap, remove the cotter pin, and remove the nut and washer, the outter bearing should slide right off. Remove that, and put the nut back on, then pull the rotor towards you, allowing the nut to touch the top of the inside of the rotor, until you catch the inner bearing on the nut, then give a ****, that should leave the bearing and seal left on the spindle. If not, you can use a seal remover, to get out the seal and the bearing will fall out of the rotor. Pack the new bearings and install the inner bearing, tap in the seal in the rotor, install rotor, install packed outer bearing and install.

How do i replace front wheel bearings on a 1991 subaru lyale 4wd wagon ?


  1. Remove the steering knuckle assembly from the vehicle, and secure in a soft-jawed vise.
  2. Drive out the hub from the steering knuckle. If the inner bearing race remains in the hub, press it out.

    NOTE Be careful not to scratch the polished area of the hub.

  3. Remove the rotor shield.
  4. Remove the inner and outer seals.
  5. Remove the snapring from the steering knuckle.
  6. Press the inner bearing race to remove the outer bearing.
  7. If equipped with ABS, remove the tone ring.
  8. Press the wheel lugs from the hub.

    NOTE To prevent deforming the hub, do not hammer the lugs out.

To install:
  1. Press new wheel lugs into the hub.
  2. If equipped, clean all foreign material from the hub and tone ring. Install the tone ring.
  3. Clean the inside of the steering knuckle.
  4. Remove the plastic lock from the inner race and press a new, greased bearing into the hub by pressing the outer race.
  5. Install the snapring into its groove.
  6. Press a new outer oil seal until it contacts the bottom of the housing.
  7. Press a new inner oil seal until it contacts the circlip.
  8. Apply grease to the oil seal lips.
  9. Install the rotor shield and tighten the bolts to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  10. Attach the hub to the steering knuckle.
  11. Press a new bearing into the hub by driving the inner race.
  12. Install the steering knuckle.

Need help replacing front hub


Here's the steps....getting some pics for you....hang on a minute or two.

Front Hub Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Remove steering knuckle.
  2. Using a suitable slap hammer, remove wheel hub assembly.
  3. Using a suitable bearing press, remove outer bearing, oil seal, outer bearing race and preload spacer.
  4. Remove inner oil seal, inner wheel bearing and inner bearing race.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove dust cover (back plate).
To Install:
  1. Using a suitable bearing press, install bearing races in steering knuckle.
  2. Pack the bearings and hub area with lithium grease.
  3. Install inner bearing in steering knuckle.
  4. Lubricate lip of NEW inner seal and press seal into knuckle.
  5. Install preload spacer into bore.
  6. Install outer bearing into bore.
  7. Lubricate lip of NEW outer seal and press seal into knuckle.
  8. Using an appropriate tool, support inner wheel bearing and press wheel hub into knuckle with a force of 2500kg.
  9. Install NEW inner seal.
  10. Install knuckle assembly.

Water pump is leaking on my 2001 Yamaha YZF 426 motorcycle.


First you remove the four 8mm bolt that attach the water pump cover to the side cover, the lowest bolt will drain the coolant. next you remove the coolant pipe with one 8mm bolt. The water pump cover like any part that has been in place for years may need some force to remove and that is why you will find two tabs around the outside of the pump cover for prying it off.

Once you have the cover off the impeller unscrews by way of a built in 10mm nut. This nut is right hand threaded and is removable by rotating it counter clockwise with preferably a 6 point socket as a 12 point socket may round the nut sides since the impeller and built in nut are made of aluminum.

To replace the twin seals (one for water/coolant and one for oil) you must remove the engine side cover from the motor and pull the impeller shaft out from the engine side of the cover. After the shaft has been removed the bearing is pulled out with a bearing puller or sometimes it can be removed by pushing it out from the outside in with a makeshift driver but the bearing can be damaged by this method and it is not recommended. The old seals can now be pulled out or pushed out from the opposite side.

To replace the new seals you must drive them in perpendicular to the impeller shaft with the manufacture markings to the inside. The water seal is installed from the outside and the oils seal from the inside.

There is a tool used for installing the seals called a seal driver but you could make one in a pinch. The seal driver makes contact with the outside diameter of the seal where it is solid and has a metal core. The inside diameter is soft and flexible and should not be used to push the seal in place however it can be used to keep the seal driver centered over the outer diameter and to keep the seal moving in a strait line perpendicular to the impeller shaft.

Once the new seals are in place they should be greased with some lithium soap based grease.

Install the bearing and reassemble the impeller shaft then you are ready to reassemble the engine side cover and water pump housing but make sure you spin the water pump impeller slowly as you install the engine side cover as the impeller shaft is driven off the engine shaft behind it and the shaft needs to be aligned in order for it to fall in place (do not try to force the cover on).
