Most likely cause would be a faulty voltage regulator. You need to get it on a battery/charge testing machine, bring the revs up to 2000 rpm,and with a fully charged battery,it should not charge any higher than 14.0 volts at 2000 rpm.

Be carefull if you get a smell like rotten eggs the battery is fried, caused by a faulty voltage regulator. Get it checked before fitting a new battery or it will fry everyone you fit and batterys aint cheap.

If the Master Cylinder BORE size is the same as the bore size required for the caliper you want to replace it with, then YES, you can use your existing Master Cylinder.

Why is my battery burning up in my 1993 fxr?

Sounds like your voltage regulator is faulty and over charging your battery and cooking it.

Have an auto electrician check the voltage charge on your bike - it should be a relative cheap fix and will stop you replacing batteries

Have 93 fxr. Starter turns motor over with spark plugs out but will not with plugs in. Put voltage meter on battery 12.50 volts push starter button drops to 4-5 volts. Have installed new piston rings 300km...

Take your battery out and have it load tested. It sounds like you have one or more cells shorting out under a load. A 12 volt battery is made up of six 2 volt cells. The output voltage and current delivery of a battery with shorted cells in it depends on how many cells are shorted and where they are located within the battery. This is the most obvious thing causing the problem. If the starter is drawing the battery down that low, it must be drawing a tremendous amount of current and it would probably be burning the battery cables with that large of a current draw. If you have 300km on a top end job with no problems, I doubt you have a problem with that. A problem in that area would have shown up well before now. Although, a fresh top end will put more strain on the starter and battery due to the increase in compression. Check the battery first.

Good Luck
Steve
