Sorry I do not have the expertise from this vintage but I am surprised not one else has responded. The transmission drain will be on the bottom of the transmission, usually in the middle and a 5/8 inch hexagon plug with a 1/4 inch Allen socket in the middle which is useful on Softail as the plug is in between the shock/springs and not easy to take off and put on with an ordinary socket and wrench as it is somewaht offset to one of the shock/spring assemblies and a medium long 1/4 inch ball Allen wrench is most useful there. The oil fill is likely a 3/8 inch allen plug on the front of the clutch release cover on the right side of the bike.

the tranny plug is behind the oil spout its usually a big allen head bolt. You should use a quality oil like AMSOIL 20W50 motorcycle oil or AMSOIL gear oil. I have the 20W50 in mine and really like the benifit of not having a pultrolium product in my bike. You can get the AMSOIL online a http://hbsynlube.com/sales. You'll beglad you changed it.

Where do I find the oil plug on a 2006 dyna low rider?

Do you mean the engine drain plug or the engine fill plug OR do you mean the transmission drain plug or the transmission fill plug or do you mean the primary drain plug and the fill is through the derby cover so there is not fill plug.

I will assume it is the engine oil drain plug and that is on the left side lower oil tank case at the point where the jiffy stand lower end rests against the frame in the up position.

If that is not your question post it again and make it clear what you want to know.

2008 dyna fxdl 96 ci oil& ****** drain plugs

The oil and transmission drain plugs are on the bottom of the transmission. The engine oil tank is there. The center plug is the engine oil and the plug on the side is the transmission drain plug, I think. I don't work on the newer bikes and I'm not sure about which plug is which. I think I'm right though. I work on the older bikes (shovelheads and such) that the dealers will no longer work.

How do i drain the transmission on 03 fxdl, i want to change the tranny fluid and i want to know where do i drain the fliud.

From the drawing that I'm looking at, the transmission is drained by removing the drain plug on the right rear of the oil pan. The other drain plug is for the engine oil and it appears to screw up from the bottom of the pan on the right side. If you have changed the engine oil, you know which plug drains the engine oil, it's the other one.

Need to know how to change oil in 2000 dyna low rider-what kind of oil to use and -how to change transmission fluid and what tranny fluid to use

There are two plugs on the bottom of the transmission, one for the engine oil, one for the tranny lube. The engine oil drain is the one that is closest to the left front corner of the oil pan. The other plug is the transmission.

The engine requires three quarts of oil, the tranny takes 20-24 ounces of oil.. Check the engine oil with the bike on the side stand. There are two marks on the dipstick. The upper mark is the "FULL HOT", the lower mark is the 'FULL COLD" mark. Keep the oil level between these two marks and do not overfill.

On the transmission, on the right side of the transmission, you'll see a chrome clutch release cover. It's behind the exhaust system. There is a plug that takes a 3/8" Allen or Hex key to remove. Check the oil level with the bike standing straight up.

As for what lubricants to use, I always use nothing but Harley-Davidson oil. 20W50 Syn 3 oil in the engine, transmission, and primary on 2000 and later model bikes. However, you can use other oils such as Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil, Motor Factory, and many others. Synthetic or petroleum based, your choice. Check the website of the manufacturer that you wish to use.

Good Luck

Were is the oil drain plug for a 2003 Dyna Low Rider

The oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission. There are two drain plugs on the oil pan. They used to be one on the left front corner and one in the center. Now, they are both on the front edge of the pan right next to each other. The one on the outside is the oil drain plug. The transmission drain takes a hex key or allen wrench where the oil drain takes a standard wrench or socket.

How to check oil level and add or change oil?

Most of the Dyna series bikes have the oil tank on the bottom of the transmission. On the bottom of the trans, there are two drain plugs. The center drain plug is for the transmission. The drain plug nearest the front left corner of the pan is the oil drain.

To check the oil level. Check the oil with the bike on the side stand. The dipstick has two marks on it. The upper mark is "FULL HOT" the lower mark is "FULL COLD" . Have the oil level somewhere between the two marks.

Good luck
