SOURCE: i installed a new stator/generator and a voltage

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The heating up would be normal as relatively, high current is passing through these wires/terminals not only to charge the battery but to power the electrics of the bike. If the regulator is working correctly, it would soon dwindle down since presumably the battery has been charged. Almost always, the connector used is not plastic but phenolic or epoxy based due to this very reason.  Another possible reason for excessive heat is that the terminals are not tighly fitted to its counterpart connector. A loose connector would result in a slight voltage drop but high current accross the connection.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

SOURCE: kawasaki 1995 GPZ1100 regulater wires.Left to

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the ignition coil wires are:

  • red - IGN + 12;
  • green - trigger wire for the left coil (cylinders 1 & 4) goes to the integrated circuit ignitor;
  • black - trigger wire for the right coil (cylinders 2 & 3) goes to the integrated circuit ignitor. There is also a connection to the tachometer.

Incidentally, to my understanding, most idling problems would be a air-fuel/carb issue. The pale burn marks of the sparkplugs indicate a lean mix where there is too much air, too little fuel. Possibilities are an air leak or air filter replaced with aftermarket open/free breathers such as K & Ns (without appropriate re-jetting/tuning).

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

SOURCE: 1974 Kawasaki KE 125 want spark, but has spark

you can trace if a coil is bad by using multi tester and check the voltage coming from it.,the volts shall be not less than six ( 6)Volts.But the problem if you dont have a multi tester?Ok,kick the starter of the motorcycle and at the same time slightly ground the wire from the coil into the cranckcase..,and if you can notice that the spark will produce a burning sound with a blue fire ,then your coil is still good.
By the way,i think your problem is not in the coil itself but either of the following:
1. The ignition coil is bad.
2. The condenser have a leak or shorted.
3. the contact point.Maybe it needs to replace or just needing a good adjustment of the "timing".
4. Or,just simply change the sparkplug.

I have a 83 kawasaki kz1100 i want to know how to install a stator because the three wires from the stator are black and the other three from the regulator wires are yellow how can i know which wires go...

Originaly the 3black wires would have been yellow sounds like its been rewired, you can connect any one to any yellow as this is a 3 faze alternator and they all throw ou the same power, before you do so,(with the ignition key removed) use a multimeter set to ohms put red lead to one wire record the reading when you touch the black wire to one of the other two wires, next move the black and record reading to the other of the two wires, this will determin that you have continuity around the three circuits

I need to know what wire to hook the coil up to the CDI box on a 1992 KX500. Its orange and doesn't correspont to any other wires.

the manual I have is from a couple of years earlier

it shows three wires in to the CDI from the stator

a red black that also goes to the stator but is joined to a black\white connected to the stop switch

and a single black that goes straight to the coil.

a 1992 may not have the original coil, or it may have had a black sheath over the orange when new

If that doesnt help, you may need to repost the question

Cannot start engine, poor spark. ignition coils ok.

hello, if you have weak fire probably, source coil or pickup in stator, or stator itself, if its not a real blue fire, bike will not run, if its sorta orange looking probably, stator, check for shorts in wires also..
