Question about 2007 Honda CBR 600 RR

1 Answer

I have a 2007 cbr600rr, and I have noticed lately my bike idles around 1900-2000rpm, normal is around 1400-1500rpm(this is when the bike is warm), also when using the engine for braking it feels a little jumpy and it kind of hangs up, that is probably due to the higher idle. Although when I first start it when cold the bike will drop down to normal idle speeds, but once I start riding it idles higher than normal and doesn't ride like it use to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted, pinched or need lubrication.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
4. Air fuel mixture adjusted too lean start with 2 full turns.
5. Intake system air leak.
6. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
7. Broken throttle return spring.
8. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
9. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, sensors or wiring/connector

The popping at idle and deceleration (when the throttle is in the idle position) could be a lean mixture at idle.
A lean mixture sitting at idle for a long light would cause the engine to run hot.
Also, as the engine reaches operating temperatures, the idle will pick up.

Hi, I own a Pulsar 150 DTSi (2007). I want to know the correct/most effective technique for setting the idling speed and carburetor volume control screw setting. I have already read many articles on the...

First and formost make sure air filter is clean. Then start bike and warm up engine.with engine warm adjust idle screw(the big screw with spring around it)Turn clockwise to increase and counterclock wise to decrease.with bike idling properly the low speed air adjustment screw (small screw located just above fuel bowl on side of carb)Adjust in small increments 1/16 turns at a time till bike has smooth throttle responce. This screw contols air flow during idle and up to 1/4 throttle. From 1/4 throttle and up the needle setting on plunger inside of carb takes care of 1/4 and up.You usally dont have to mess with needle unless you do upgrades to get more power out of bike. But over time the low speed settings can change due to wear on idle needle and air needle. So thats why you have to make adjustments. If bike still dosent respond or idle correctly I would purchase carb rebuild kit and your problem will be solved.

1999 ASTRO VAN ACCELERATES WITH AC ON

It is perfectly normal for the idle speed to increase with the AC on. This is done to ensure that adequate coolant flow is available for the increased strain the compressor puts on the engine.

If the idle increase is too high, there is a safety problem. There is an idle adjustment that can be made to reduce RPM to factory specification when the AC is on.
