Baja dr 50 I can not get it to start I have spark it acts like it's not getting any fuel so I removed the carb and cleaned and inspected jet where clean what do I do next. I also put a new spark plug in

  • It sounds like the fuel line or fuel petcock might be clogged. You bike does not have a fuel pump so the fuel is delivered to the carburetor by gravity, check the fuel line for obstruction. You may have to remove the petcock from the tank, if you do be sure to drain all of the fuel from the fuel tank first. The petcock has a screen that serves as a filter, the only way to clean it is to remove the whole petcock assembly from the tank. Also, its a good idea to replace any gaskets and o rings with new ones, you dont want any fuel leaks no matter how small Good luck

SOURCE: bike will not start

I would take the carb off and clean the jets. I had a bike that if i didnt ad stabil to it, the gas would varnish in just about a month. It also depends on what kind of gas you put in there and if you fill the tank up so condensation doesnt get in there.

sounds like carbs not cleaned right, oh try changing fuel filter, does fuel pump run constantly. if you cant hear it you can feel it, up behind the ignition. Berrymans B12 fuel additive works wonders. double dose add to gas run bike til hot then let stand overnight, pray a lot and try it again.

Take the carburetor apart again, remove the main and idle jets and idle mix screw, plus the float and needle valve. The main jet holds an 'emulsion tube' in--look inside where the slide valve moves, you should see a short brass tube projecting out of the bottom. Carefully push down on that tube with a plastic rod or wooden dowel, it should drop out the hole where the main jet was. Chances are that the tube is dirty and needs to be cleaned--look carefully at the series of small holes drilled into the sides of the tube. These small holes deliver air which is mixed into the fuel passed through the main jet. That air comes from a small hole just inside the intake side of the carburetor. The long needle that sticks out of the slide bottom controls low to mid-range speed fuel-mixture. Check that the 'C' clip on the top end of the needle is in the center groove and that the retainer spring is pressed down the 'C' clip. Now soak the whole carburetor with spray cleaner, then blow out all passages with compressed air. Don't soak the rubber-tipped needle valve from under the float. On reassembly, set the idle mix screw 1-1/2 to 2 turns CCW from CW stop. Adjust for best idle after you get it running and warmed up. I hope this long winded explanation helps!

clean contacts on points with sandpaper (800 grit). located behind flywheel, will gurantee a fix. you can remove the side cover and get to contacts through holes in flywheel without removing it.

Ran my baja sc125 til it ran outta gas, filled it, now it wont start


Hi, Carlos if you have an old bike that has not had regular fuel system maintenance and you run the fuel tank dry I feel your pain. All the contaminants water-dirt-rust-liner paint flakes-ethanol sludge etc. that lived in the bottom of your fuel tank get mixed with the last few oz. of fuel left in the tank and enter the fuel system clogging up fuel filters-fuel valves-fuel lines-carburetor jets-needle jets and seats-fuel injectors etc. You fill up your fuel tank and guess what your bike does not start or if it does it runs like dog caca, a complete cleaning of the fuel system is mandatory, the procedure is as follows:
1. Drain the fuel tank and inspect the inside for leftover uninvited guests decontaminate as necessary for rusty environments install a liquid fuel liner.
2. In tank fuel pumps with external filters need to be cleaned.
3. Fuel valves need to be rebuilt with a new gasket kit.
4. Fuel lines need to be inspected for integrity and replaced as necessary any inline fuel filter should be cleaned or replaced.
5. Carburetors need to be disassembled then "DIPPED" and soaked in a commercial carb cleaning solution Gunk sells 1/2 gallon pails with meshed screen baskets. Reassemble using new rebuild kits. Record all jet sizes and float level for fine tuning.
6. Fuel injectors and fuel rails need to be properly cleaned and tested for optimum performance, if necessary send off any suspect injectors to "InjectorRx.com" for a modest fee they will refurbish the unit back to factory specs.

1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated
3) Check cylinder compression

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks

remove all of the old fuel using a siphon bulb and hose. Put in brand new fuel and make sure the line from the tank to the carb. is flowing gas. if not clean or replace the fuel line

I have a Baja 90 atv that wont start, have good spark & fuel but doesn't want to start


take the jumper off of the cdi box located under the fuel tank. unplug the cdi unit and loosen the 2 screws with a phillips screwdriver to remove the jumper. then take off the rubber stoppers on the other end of the cdi unit and turn them clockwise to speed up the low and high setting.
