SOURCE: My Suzuki VL1500 cranks but really struggles to start!

When was the last time the valves were adjusted? Valve adjustment affects more than compression but vacuum as well and should be checked... A lot of rider never check it until they have a problem like this, and it gets worse when it is colder outside.

You can easily look this up on line at the NGK sparkplug site. Global Denso also has the info for cars and motorcycles. (The OEM sparkplug for your bike is either NGK or Denso... upgrade with Iridium Plugs for a bit more HP and longer life.) It's 0.035" The iridium Denso Plug is 5375 (IX22B)

Are there two different size spark plugs on the bike?

Hi the ntv deauville uses NGK DPR8EA-9 or DENSO X24EPR-U9. Which are all the same size plug, T he gap size is 0.8-0.9. the champion equivelent is RA4HC, you may find the different makes of plug use a diff hex for socket size, if you have a diff thread size then at sometime or other 1 thread has been damaged and re taped to fit. A larger plug size

You are correct in saying the gap. Call a suzuki dealer, ask for service and as what the gap should be. Your problem is more than likely not having set the gap. Before you change that gap, if you can, measure what is now vs/what it should be. You will need a feeler gauge. Grainger sells the, so des NAPA.
