SOURCE: how to fix frozen caliper

First unbolt the brake pads bolts 1-2 turns. Also unbolt the brake hose's bolt.Unbolt the caliper from it's mounts and push the caliper against the brake rotor a bit while holding the rotor from the back not to bend it permanently.Once you take it out, use compressed air through the bleeder's hole or the brake hose bolt's hole and a pair of pliers with thick cloth in it's jaws to extract the caliper's pistons. Don't damage their outer surface that comes in contact with the seals.Clean thorough inside the pistons sockets and use new seals.

I own a 1984 Honda Magna VF 700. The speedometer broke and the part is discontinued. Is there another part that I can replace it with? Looking for something in stock to use and not concerned about original parts - just something that will work.

I'm quit sure its the main bearing which supports the crankshaft, sadly this is a complecated replacment and it could be costly, mostly because of the amount of disasembly involved in getting to the main bearing.
