Question about 2011 Suzuki GSX1250FA

Open Question

Just had my Suzuki serviced for its 11K servicing. I noticed the engine coolant reservoir was bone dry. The service shop said there is coolant in the radiator and don't worry about the coolant reservoir. Is this an issue?

Try your local library. They often have service manuals that the public has given away. You will need a case splitter to sepatrate the engine center cases. I do not recommend a rubber mallet. Be sure to install new crankshaft seals.

SOURCE: Service details for a suzuki gsx1400 oilcooled engine

I think you mean a VS1400 or a VS1400GLP. I don't think there is a GSX1400. Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

First, check and , if needed, change the spark plug(s), and oil. Always use the stock spark plug for your particular bike. Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Change the oil filter if your bike has one. Changing the oil acts as the "filter" in bikes that don’t have an actual filter. Lubricate the chain. Lubricate the control cables with liquid graphite, ( Lock Eze ). Make sure the tires have adequate pressure. Check the spokes and snug up any that are lose. Aim the headlight and check all functions of the bike, kill switches, brakes, etc.

How about a top rating on this solution? Thanks!

SOURCE: I want to download (PDF) a service manual for my Suzuki DL650

The following site has some DL650 manuals and they can be downloaded for free. The site has over 3000 manuals so the list may take a minute or so to build. Even if the manual downloaded is a year or two off, the service procedures will be the same. Cosmetic changes are the usual differences year to year. www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Hi I'm stephen adams from capetown south Africa I have a gsr750 2014 suzuki motorcycle I still have the pre mix coolant in the bike can I use tap water to top up the reservoir

Hi, Stephen tap water "NO" distilled water "YES" tap water has minerals and such that are not cooling system friendly also check your owners manual for service intervals for changing your coolant like everything else liquid it looses it's ability to do its job over a period of time and your engine will run hotter. Good luck and have a nice day.

When i put my car in reverse and press the gas it does not move right away as if its straining to move. I check all fluids i did notice that the engine coolant is bone dry could that be the reason

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Since the coolant was bone dry, there is a good possibility that there is engine damage. Your best bet is trying to get codes off your computer. When you don't have coolant, the engine overheats and causes engine damage. Even though your problem could be a transmission issue, it may be because of engine damage as well. Because it is hard to tell what parts were effected, you will need the vehicle scanned on a machine at a shop. You may be able to avoid all of this by getting codes of the vehicle.

Coolant low light on and check service engine

If your coolant low light is on it usually means you need to add coolant to the plastic reservoir, but if the coolant level is ok in the reservoir but the light still stays on then the coolant level sensor in the reservoir is not functioning properly. The check service engine light can mean anything from serious engine problems to a simple oxygen sensor reading that the computer didn't like. You can stop by your local auto parts store and they will read the codes and tell you exactly why it is on and what the computer has detected.
