Check rad fan to see if its comming on or is wore out and running slow your bike overheats in traffic because theres not enough air flow to cool the water flowing in the radiator like at highway speeds

check for the pinched vacuum line at the carb,, sportys are hard to locate because they are tucked in way behind , it ay have come disconnected, unless there is a load on the motor it will idle fine, add a little load and you get the feeling no fuel is getting through unless you rev it up

My 2002 monte carlo is overheating on city streets but runs fine on the highway.

Hello June.
In behind the radiator there is an electric fan designed to come on when the coolant reaches a certain temperature.
At low speeds such as in traffic there is little airflow through the rad, but at highway speed it greatly increases the airflow.
So I suspect that the fan isn't working on your car.
This could be a bad fan motor, a bad fuse, a bad sensor or a wiring problem.
Also check that something hasn't fallen into the fan and jammed it up.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Yamaha r1 overheating when driving around city streets checked coolant level and oil but still doing it

Hi, Tom and the usual suspects are:
1. Low coolant level.
2. Restricted radiator air flow.
3. Faulty thermostat.
4. Coolant pump or fans inoperative.
5. Vent hose crimped.
6. Air in the coolant and needs bleeding.
7. Engine idling too long or bike moving too slow.
8. Coolant too old needs to be replaced.

I have a 2002 Buick Rendezvous that is overheating, then cooling down, then overheating again. It seems that when I'm on the highway it cools, but local streets, it heats up. I've changed the thermostat...

I ahd the same issue and just had to bleed the air out of the system. Use the bleeder valve on the top of the intake tube, you cant miss it. Stat your car and open that valvethe air/steam will start to come out. Keep that open until you get coolant flowing out of there and then close it. Took me about 5 min. and heat works fine. Please rate my answer to let me know if that was any help. Thanks

2009 Street glide idles poorly, strong gas smell, stalls

The 09 models come with a "parade" mode which causes the rear cyclinder to quit firing when idling in traffic etc to combat over heating. You should be able to kick it on by rolling the throttle grip FORWARD for 5 to 10 seconds. Have you changed the pipes or air filter? If you have and never had the EFI adjusted (either factory download or fuel tuner installed) your bike could be running extra rich causing the over heating and eventual engine destruction. New Harleys run rich from the factory, any changes to the intake/exhaust system without proper fuel injection management will cause overheating. Try getting your bike into parade mode by rolling the throttle forward to the stops for a few seconds, that will cool things down.

Oil overspill coming out of air cleaner/filter

Relax...... Harley's all vent oil thru the air cleaner, actually, S & S does to, except they put a overflow valve so it drips on the road rather than the engine. Various little things can cause the oil flow to increase, and yes, over filling, over heating, and sometime, just running balls out for awhile.

Its normal, and shouldnt cause any problems more serious than oil mist on yer engine ( and sometimes passenger)

KSR Street legal?!

I have contacted New York State Department Of Motor Vehicles and this is their answer.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>- --> Scooters, Go-Karts, Mini-Bikes, Mopeds, ATVs and Other Special Vehicles trnsp.gif Question Do I need to register a motorized scooter, a go-kart, a mini-bike, a dirt bike, a motor-assisted bicycle, a moped, or an ATV? trnsp.gif Answer Motorized Scooters, Go-Karts, Mini-Bikes, Dirt Bikes and Motor-assisted Bicycles You cannot register any of these motorized devices in NYS. You cannot operate these devices on sidewalks, public streets or highways in NYS. These devices are classified as motor vehicles, but the devices do not have the correct equipment or design to operate on roadways. If you operate an unregistered motor vehicle on a street or a highway in NYS, law enforcement officials can arrest you and give you a ticket for the violation of several traffic laws. The DMV web site has more information about motorized devices.
Mopeds
You cannot register or legally operate a limited-use motorcycle (moped) in NYS unless the DMV certifies the device for registration and operation. The DMV web site has more information about Mopeds.
All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)
You cannot register an ATV unless it complies with the definition of an ATV in the DMV brochure, ""ATVs - Information for Drivers and Owners."
