Trow that injection away and drive it on carbs... It is the worst ever made fuel injection system... I've replaced tenth of them!

Have a 1983 280zx 2.8 non turbo that starts up and then dies. Replaced ECU and electric fuel pump but still will not start. Can anyone give me a clue as to the problem! Bill

need more information...carb, fuel injection, battery voltage
I,m assuming injected motor battery voltage is the starting point on all early to late asian imports, battery voltage below 10.8 volts car cranks but no start,I've even seen where a jump box wouldn't start one. also if bad cell, surface charge may start the engine but as soon as alt can't charge batt...stalls. hope this helps..will check back for more info.

Should I keep the carborator or upgrade to a direct fuel injection system in a 1983 thunderbird proformance rebuild

the fuel injection will work better but what about the cost ,also its not original and any hope of selling the car when you get to pensionable age for a good price it will have to be original

Engine will not start, carbs cleaned, but will not fire, no petrol

Check the carb diaphrams for any tears/pinholes? (They are on the top of the carbs) Have you reconnected the breather from the tank? Is fuel getting past fuel tap? Sometimes the vent in the fuel cap can get blocked with crud and create a vacuum which stops fuel flowing.

Fuel pump

I think this is a simple gravity feed to the carbs. It's possible you require some vacuum from the intact manifold to open the flow. Some Honda Nighthawks are set up that way.
