Question about 1974 Yamaha DT 360
No not really, the diameter of the fork tubes are probably different, maybe a dt 400 would be closer, replace them in pairs, dont replace only 1,the spring rate & dampening is different, try junk yards in your area, get a complete front end from a dt 400,it should fit.

Your bike is 35 years old. Not a lot of 360s left out there. The forks take 10w fork oil. Any dealer will have the oil. Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. If I recall correctly, it takes 2.25 quarts of oil. I think there was an oil dipstick on the bike. Go by the dipstick reading. The dipstick does not get screwed in when checking oil level. See if the oil quantity is embossed on the case just below the oil filler hole. The bike does not have an oil filter.
The stock spark plug is an NGK-B9ES. The rear shocks are a sealed unit I believe. 35 years does dull the memory at times.
Use TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL in the pump. If not using an automatic oil pump, then mix the gas and oil 32 to 1. That equals 4 ounces of TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL to one gallon of gas. NEVER use motor oil in the gas. Only two stroke engine oil.
Thanks for the opportunity to try and recall ancient history. It was enjoyable.
Please rate this solution. Thanks!
