You could tie into the high beam or the low beam wire to power the lights. But, they will turn on only when that circuit is used. If it is tied into the low beam they will turn off when you switch to high beam. To tie in you should be able to splice into the harness right at the standard headlight plug in the headlight bucket.

Use an ohm meter to verify that the black wire is indeed a ground (earth). Put the meter in R X 1 and touch either meter lead to the black wire and the other meter lead to ground. The meter should read less than one ohm.

Now, turn the ignition switch on and the headlight on low beam. Put your meter's function switch in DC VOLTS, 20 VOLT or greater scale. Connect the meter's black lead to ground. Touch either the red or the white wire with the red lead and see if you have voltage. Which ever wire has voltage is the low beam power wire. Then switch the light switch to HIGH beam and again check the wires, the "hot" wire is the HIGH beam power wire.

On your new light, you should have a wiring diagram telling you which filament is the low beam and which is the high beam. If you don't, just wire it up and flip the "high/low" beam switch and see if it looks right. If it doesn't, switch the wiring. The new light should have a ground somewhere as well. Since I'm not familiar with this particular light, the ground may be a body ground that relies on physical contact when bolted on the bike.

How to change a headlight


-open hood
-locate 4 retaining nuts and bolts
-undo nuts
-open wiring harness quick connect (push tab and pull apart)
-remove old headlight
-install new headlight into correct position
-connect new headlight to wiring harness
-attach 4 retaining screws
-turn on headlights against garage door
-tighten top and bottom bolts until desired height setting for lights

1998 toyota rav 4. Right side low beam headlight doesn't work. Hi beam on that side does. Checked fuses, they appear OK, and tried 2 other headlights. Left side hi and low working fine.


sounds like there is a broken wire. the only advise i can give you is to follow the hot wire for that light untill you find the break in the wire.

Duetch connectors are the plastic multi wire plugs. All handlebar wiring likely terminates in the headlight housing.

NOTE: This vehicle is equipped with a passive immobilizer that needs to be bypassed for remote start operation only. Use DEI part number 555U to bypass. *1 The DDM (drivers door module) is located in the center of the drivers door. *2 Requires a double pulse to unlock. *3 Parking lights require a negative trigger with a 1800 ohm resistor in-line to the white/green wire. Using a negative trigger with a 780 ohm resistor in-line to the same white/green wire will turn on the headlights as well as the parking lights. *4 This wire may cause the aftermarket alarm to false when the vehicles electrical system shuts down. Use a relay to isolate it. *5 The FEM (Front Electronic Module) is located in the drivers kick panel. - Open the vehicle's hood and secure it in an upright position
- If necessary, open the bulb access panel by depressing the latch then lifting.

- Unfasten the locking ring which secures the bulb and wire harness plug assembly, then withdraw the assembly rearward.

- Disconnect the electrical wire harness plug from the bulb and remove the locking ring as well.

To install:
- Before connecting a light bulb to the wire harness plug, ensure that all electrical contact surfaces are free of corrosion or dirt.
- Install the locking ring onto the bulb, then line up the replacement headlight bulb with the harness plug. Firmly push the bulb onto the plug until the spring clip latches over the bulb's projection.

WARNING:
Do not touch the glass bulb with your fingers. Oil from your fingers can severely shorten the life of the bulb. If necessary, wipe off any dirt or oil from the bulb with rubbing alcohol before completing installation.

- Position the headlight bulb and secure it with the locking ring.
- To ensure that the replacement bulb functions properly, activate the applicable switch to illuminate the bulb which was just replaced. (If this is a combination low and high beam bulb, be sure to check both intensities.) If the replacement light bulb does not illuminate, either it too is faulty or there is a problem in the bulb circuit or switch. Correct if necessary.

Close the bulb access panel and the vehicle's hood.

Immobiliser problem wrangler jeep


Ok well i assume you are trying to install a remote start/alram system. Her is all the info you should need to do so.

1. vehicles with gray keys have immobilizer system installed. If your vehicle is equiped with an immobilizer system a bypass module is required because you have sentry key immobilization. you can find this bypass module at Circuit City or Best Buy. The bypass module part number is 555cw but there is also a unversal module that can probly be used just ask the salesman selling you the module i belive the universal part# is 556uw. Now I will list your wire colors and locations for your vehicle

1. 12 volts - pink/blk - ignition harness

2. starter - yellow - ignition harness

3. ignition - blue - ignition harness

4. accessory - black/orange - ignition harness

5. second accessory - black/green - ignition harness

6. parking lights (+) - black/yellow - headlight switch

7. door trigger (-) - yellow - headlight switch

8. dome light supervision - use door trigger -

9. tachometer - gray - ignition coil

10 speed sense - white/orange - white plug, pin 27 PCM ( the PCM is on the passenger side firewall under the hood )

11. brake wire (+) - white/tan - brake pedal switch
