SOURCE: Oil change

Check your owners manual for the location of the sump screw. If you don't have a center stand, or someone to help by holding the bike so it's straight up, you can put some wood under the kickstand later. It's best to do this with the engine slightly warm, so run it for a minute or so. Then loosen the oil filter and then open the sump screw, making sure you have a basin underneath to catch the oil. Take out and clean the sump screw and remove the old oil filter. Open the place to fill the oil too. When all the oil is drained, put a thin film of oil around the gasket on the new filter and screw it on following the instructions that come with the filter. Then replace and tighten the sump screw. Carefully fill the machine, being sure to not overfill. This is when you need the machine to be upright so you can check either the dipstick or sight glass. When you've filled to the correct level start the bike and make sure there are no leaks. Then check your level again. You should be good to go.

SOURCE: I need to know how much play is allowed on the

Are you ready, let get started. For the Drive Belt Inspection it is recommended that you inspect the drive belt annually, and replace at specified intervals regardless of belt condition.

1. Periodically inspect the drive belt for cuts, missing teeth and excessive wear.

2. Adjust the drive belt tension at intervals in accordance with your motorcycle owner's manual (M.O.M.)

To perform the actual belt tension inspection, perform the following:

1. Secure the motorcycle in an upright position. Shift the transmisison into neutral and be sure to elevate the rear wheel off of the ground. This is critical when checking belt deflection or adjusting the belt.

2. Now you need to finf the "tight spot" on the belt. do this by measuring the belt deflection at 4 different spots on the belt as you rotate the rear wheel.

3. Place a mark at the tightest point. Now adjust the belt deflection to specification.

4. Place a tape measure or ruler next to the drive belt to help you measure deflection. Note that some motorcycles, especially the Victory models, have grduations on the belt bracket for reference. Be sure to measure 1/2 way between the front and rear sprocket centers on the lower part of the belt.

5. Use a belt tension guage. These cost about $30.00 and are well worth the expense. Plus you get to add a new tool to your tool chest. Note that the belt tension guage must be kept at a 90 degree angle to the belt to get an accurate measurement.

6. Push up on the belt tension tool measuring the deflection distance with the amount of force required to be in tolerances. In the case of the Victory Kingpin, this is 10 pounds of force with a tolerance deflection of 9mm. 9mm @ 10lbs. force.

Before you do the Belt Tension Adjustment, you need to make sure the wheel alignment is correct. The following with give you instruction and tips on aligning the wheel and belt correctly.

Belt/wheel alignment method 1:

First measure from the center of the swingarm pivot to the center of the axle. Keep it the same on each side. I have Been doing this on dirt bikes for many years and has not failed yet. I use the Motion Pro belt tensioning tool.

Belt/wheel alignment method 2:

This is what I do if I change a tire or belt.

1] Loosen adjusters completly slide tire to front of adjustment slots.

2] run in both adjusters till they just touch

3] Count threads to make sure they are even

4] going 1/2 turn per side. Take the belt to just loose of adjustment

5] Tighten axle nut,and spin wheel about 10 times. To check belt tracking.

6] If belt is to far right loosen the axle tighten the left side an aditional 1/2turn. Opisete for belt to far left.Spin again. You will never get it centered only to where it has a gap on both sides.

7] tighten both sides equaly until you have 9mm of deflection at 10Lb force. At the tightest point

SOURCE: How do I replace the rear brake pads on a 2007

Replacing motorcycle rear brake pads With the weather getting nicer, a lot of motorcyclists are dusting off their motorcycles and performing their routine spring tune up. One very important area to check is your brakes. Otherwise it will be very difficult to stop by just dragging your feet going 50 mph.

I will mainly focus this article on replacing the rear brake pads. This job is very simple, and takes less then a half hour. Even a government employee could do it.

1] For this step you will use a flat tip screwdriver between the pad, and rotor. Gently pry the pad outward to push the piston back in the caliper.

2] Find and remove the retaining clip on the pin. Remove clip.

3] Using a small punch drive the pin half way out. You will want to leave it so that it holds the inboard pad in place.

4] Remove, and replace the outboard pad. Make sure that it is seated in the caliper. Slide your punch in the hole so that the pad stays in place.

5] Pull pin the rest of the way out, and replace the inboard pad.

6] Re install the pin through both pads. I use a long extension, and go through the wheel to knock the pin in completely.

7] Finally, reinstall the retaining clip.

I am glad to post this and help you....... Now that I have ruined my dust cover boot trying to find a bolt to remove, to replace the pads. This is THE ONLY HELP YOU CAN FIND ON THE VICTORY REAR BRAKES ON THE WEB! Please believe me. :[ Now if any one can help me in finding a place to order the rubber dust covers for the rear brake calipers on a 04 Vegas I will be forever grateful. Thanks to all that try to help me. AND I NEED LOTS OF IT :} Ken..

05 kingpin reserve tank

There is no reserve tank on an '05 KP. You have a 4 gallon tank, and a dash light to let you know when you're REALLY low on fuel. I've run mine dry, about ~15 miles or so after it came on. Dang, those things are heavy to push down the shoulder of the highway...suggest you keep an eye on the fuel and not trust the light, although mine has always been reliable.

Bike wont start ran low on fuel drove home shut down the bike now it wont start. We have spark it must be fuel where is the fuel filter located

Hi Allan.

The fuel filters are located inside the fuel tank, attached to the fuel pump. You will need to remove the tank and to turn the tank upside down (after disconnecting fuel lines and bleeding) to access the filter and pump. The procedure below is taken from Kingpin and Vegas manual at page 103. I have uploaded the manual here:2180 Vic Kingpin-Vegas Manual. The fuel tank removal procedure is described in the manual from page 103. The fuel pump is reported as common failure in this bike. Use an hand gauge to read fuel pressure in lines, that may reveal if the pump is working.Check in general the fuel delivery system. Check the clutch safety switch (see p113 in manual), check if any additional fuel cutoff or kickstand switch has been installed.

Here resource page.

Here extracts from service manuals and wiring diagram.

Regards.
