Question about 1996 kawasaki ZX-9R Ninja

When i put my 1996 kawasaki ninja zx900 in first gear and ease off the clutch it goes dead, it attempts to move but wont all the way my kick stand is up but i dont know if the kick stand switch is hoo

My kick stand switch it currently off and not hooked up but has been riding without it and today as I was riding my bike stopped running and sounded as if it was flooding making a "bogging" sound but then started back up and that's when it wouldn't go anywhere after easing off the clutch in first gear it would shut off.

Kick stand switch is only a make or break connection , so try joining them together temp' and see if ok ! any more info you got ??

    Well now I replaced the fuel lines cause the so called "mechanic" put vaccume lines on it and it started to run fine then out it back on my trailer and took it home and now it won't crank and when it does if the choke ain't on it won't start? What could this be? Plugs or carbs?

    check for sparks ! remove plug caps and check resistance as they do fail and if too much resistance then not a good spark , then if no change strip the carbs and clean etc and balance b4 you put back on !!

Hi, Tamas the ignition circuit cut-off system comprising of the side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch has the following functions:
a. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled.
b. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the side stand is still down.
c. It cuts the running engine when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is moved down.
Periodically check the operation of the ignition circuit cut-off system according to the following tests.
With the engine turned off:
1. Move the side stand down.
2. Make sure that the engine stop switch is set to "RUN"
3. Turn the key to "ON".
4. Shift the transmission into the neutral position.
5. Push the start switch if the engine does not start the neutral switch may be faulty.
With the engine still running:
6. Move the side stand up.
7. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
8. Shift the transmission into gear.
9. Move the side stand down if the engine does not stall you may have a faulty side stand switch.
After the engine has stalled:
10. Move the side stand up.
11. Keep the clutch lever pulled.

1999 Kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja dies when put into first gear


Hi, Dave and the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty wiring to any safety switch.
2. Safety switches loose at the mounting point.
3. Faulty kickstand safety switch.
4. Failed kickstand safety switch circuit diode.
5. Stretched side stand spring.
6. Side stand not coming up far enough to disengage switch.
7. Faulty clutch lever safety switch.
8. Faulty neutral safety switch.
9. Clutch not properly adjusted.
10. Clutch plates sticking, forward lurch

When i put it in first gear ease off clutch it goes dead


Sounds like the bike "thinks" the side stand is still down. There is a switch on the side stand to tell the ignition if it is up or down. The intent is to prevent a person from riding off with the stand down and crashing. Check first to see if it is sticking. Observe the operation of the switch as you raise and lower the side stand. Often, a shot of lubricant can resolve this issue. If the switch is moving in and out, then disconnect it from the wiring harness and put an ohmmeter across the two leads and check for continuity and no continuity as the side stand switch is down and then up. If the plunger for the switch is moving in and out with the side stand, and you do not get a change of continuity with the side stand up or down, it will need to be replaced.
