SOURCE: Hi My bike has recently been

Below is the answer from Cat Eye's website. 9 times out of 10 the magnet has moved either up the spoke or the front wheel was put on with the magnet on the opposite side from the sensor. After that the sensor could of moved outboard a cm or 2 from the magnet. Then start with the battery tests as outlined below. Remember with a wireless model you have two batteries, one in the computer and one in the transmitter.

From Cat Eye's website

How do I get my computer head unit to register a signal with the sensor?
If you computer head unit does not pick up a signal or does not seem to "communicate" with the sensor - check the following:

First, make sure the "AT" icon or "AUTO" is displayed on the screen (computer is in auto-timer mode, not manual stop/start mode).

Second, make sure the magnet is passing within 2-3 mm of the mark on the sensor (on the fork blade or chainstay, depending on model).

If neither help restore a consistent signal, then it could be either a low battery or a damaged wiring (Bracket/Sensor) kit.

Even if the LCD display is clear and bright, the battery may be too low to transmit a signal from the sensor to the computer head unit.

Next, with a fresh battery installed, try performing a manual restart operation to bring the LCD display back to life. Do this by either 1. pressing both buttons (Mode and Set on back) OR 2. all three buttons (Mode, Start/Stop, and small Set button on back) at once and then releasing all three OR 3. by pressing the AC (all-clear) button if your computer has one. This should bring the display back to life, and the unit can now be re-calibrated for your bike. See if consistent signal is re-established.

Finally, If that does not help, take a paper clip and bridge the 2 diagonally opposed metal contacts on the back of the computer head unit. If random information appears in the current speed display (upper portion of screen) while bridging the contacts, then the computer head unit is fine and the problem lies with the bracket/sensor kit. It may be stretched or damaged just enough to interrupt the signal transmission, even if not visibly so. If that is the case, please visit our small parts site to purchase the appropriate replacement sensor kit.

SOURCE: It doesnt read the current

There is a sensor that you need to affix to the front wheel that comes with the unit. It is magnetic by nature, so if you can find something that is similar to it, you will get results you want. It comes with the unit. How old is the unit? New?

My bike computer is not calculating distance or average speed. The clock is the only display function working. Battery is not the problem. The message from the transponder is not getting through to the...

Without input from the wheel sensor it will not calculate anything. If it's wireless maybe it lacks a good line of sight or it's too far away. Take it off the handlebar, prop the bike so you can spin the wheel and hold the computer close to the transponder to see if it indeed CAN see it. Then work out the distance or line of sight issue.

Don't fixate on your computer once you get it working. I destroyed a bike frame when I crashed while watching my first bike computer at the end of a ride.

I cannot get the computer to register miles when I hook up the system in my garage's a cs100 polar cycle computer. It just stays at zero when I spin the wheel. I took it off my old bike where it...

The CS100 is designed to only work off the front wheel. if you are using a trainer where the rear wheel is spinning and the front wheel is stationary you will get no reliable reading. if this was the case on the old bike, you got lucky, the system is not designed to read that way. Too far a distance between sensor and computer.

If you are moving the front wheel, as on rollers, and you are not getting a signal than either the sensor and the magnet are not reading each other (too far away from each other, as an example) or the sensor has a dead battery, or you have the bike sensor turned off in your settings.

What is the difference between a normal bike and a bmx bike?

A BMX is more like a piece of sports equipment, it's mostly ridden standing up and not really used for transportation. A normal bike can be ridden while seated and isn't good for tricks and jumps.

Blackburn atom 4.0 does not read speed

The magnet has to interrupt the pickup and the transmitter communicates it to the computer, so settings are irrelevant for basic function.

Take the computer off its mount and hold it closer to the transmitter to see if that helps. Then take the magnet off the wheel and wave it by the pcikup to see if that helps.

If neither works, consider that weak batteries in either unit can cause it to fail. Some units also have a minimum and maximum distance within which they'll work.

I have the same problem. Been back and forth with the dealer and GM. Everyone knows this is a problem but Hummer will not reprogram the computer. It was suggested to me to get a vortex to adjust the computer shift points but the unit is $400 and will void your warranty. Sucks big time
