Why is my tgb west 50cc scooter not getting oil?

It has oil in the tank and in the line but doesn't appear to be getting any in the engine

first major restrictor is in the exhaust pipe. Take off all the securing nuts and bolts to remove the pipe. You will notice in the end of the pipe that fits to the cylinder head there will be a washer that reduces the bore of the pipe. You will need to grind away the weld that secures this washer, clean out all metal particles and refit pipe to bike. This will dramatically improve the performance. Hope this helps' Alex.

Oil light won't stay off


Could be a couple of different things.

First off, check your oil level....is it correct? (I know, kinda stupid of me, but I had to ask)

Just because you have oil doesn't mean the oiling system is working.
On thing you can do is remove oil tank cap, using a flashlight look down into the tank and see if you can notice oil being pumped back into the tank.
Or, you can pull the oil sending unit and see it oil pumps out the hole when the engine runs (this WILL be messy!).

Or, pull the oil return line at the oil tank.
IF you pull the feed line by mistake, you'll know!
Oil will run out the tank fitting until the tank runs out of oil! (opps, wrong line!)
When you pull the return line, you should get just some residual oil out the tank fitting (and the line).
Put the end of the line in a container and see if oil squirts out when the engine runs.

If all the above indicate oil IS circulating, the oil sending unit itself might be bad. They do occasionally go out.

Engine tank should be plumb full tight. The engine supplies about 2 lbs pressure through one of the 2 lines going to the boat tank. The other line takes the oil to the engine tank. If that line gets kinked or pinched, the engine tank won't get oil, a check valve lets a little air into it, and the oil pump keeps getting oil. When it goes down just a little, the alarm goes off telling you something is wrong.

Sludge in the boat tank could plug up the pickup screen. I've also seen them plugged up by a foil oil bottle seal carelessly dropped into the tank.

Once you find out why the oil couldn't get there, start the engine with the cowl off and loosen the cap on the engine oil tank until it leaks, then tighten it down and clean up the mess. That tank is normally plumb full tight.

If when the engine is running, you crack the cap on the boat tank, you should hear pressure let off. If the cap leaks, it won't build up pressure. If there is pressure, the oil line is plugged or kinked.

If pressure isn't supplied, the problem would be the crankcase check valve on the engine, lower forward starboard side, with the hose going to it.

On SOME of the Harleys with the oil tank mounted below the transmission, the oil feed line needs to be "bled", so the oil pump doesn\'t "cavitate" (suck air).
Unhook the oil feed (not return) line at the engine, and allow some oil to flow out (removing oil fill cap helps) to get air out of line.
Replace line and try again.
Also, if you didn\'t pour some oil into the filter prior to installing it, it will take a little time for it to fill (AFTER the oil runs through the engine)

The check ball in the oil pump is the problem. It either gets dirt on it, or just doesn't mate up properly with its seat. This allows the engine to "sump", meaning because the crankcase is lower than the oil tank, the oul flows from the tank into the crankcases. I doubt there is a drain plug at the bottom of your engine cases, so the only way to get the oil out of the crankcase is to place a pan under the vent and run the bike. Keep an eye on the oil level in the tank, but don't add a lot if it gets low. Some oil will be circulated back the tank by the oil pump. The simple fix to this problem is to place a clamp on the oil feed line to the pump if you're gonna let the bike sit for awhile. This will not allow the oil to flow from the tank. Replacing the pump again, or reseating the ball may or may not solve your problem. My '91 bagger has the same problem. I just clamp the feed line when I store it for the winter and have no sumping problem when I fire it up in the spring. just remember to remove the clamp before starting the bike!

hello sir, check to see if the engine is over full on oil and gas in the engine .this will make starter drag eventually ruining starter.this is the only thing i can think of other than engine having high compression except valves not opening and the pressure relief valve not working,or engine low on oil 30 WT, is also important to keep good oil in engine and full. the solenoids under the carburetor will go bad,and cause flooding, if you have one. make sure you keep battery charged. if it is follow these directions ,well it is a simple fix,but a lot to correct problem, parts needed,1 new spark plug,1 new solenoid,1 quart of 30wt oil,1 pan to catch old oil in. tools needed,1 spark plug wrench,1,7/16 or 1/2 or 9/16 open wrench,pen&paper. ok, empty fuel tank or clamp off fuel line,make a drawing as how the wires are connected to the solenoid,white & black wires,unplug wire fittings,remove solenoid, in stall new solenoid,plug wires in. now drain oil & gas out of engine,remove old spark plug,important so follow directions,after oil is drained plug is out crank engine so to clean out cylender of excess oil & gas,it would be a good ideal to let oil drain for a while. add oil & spark plug,engine will smoke for a while but should clear up.when you go to the parts store you will need engine horse power,engine brand,mobel number,type number,parts should cost around 50.00. including everything you need,check oil often you can put a inline fuel shutoff in the fuel line about $5.00, or replace solenoids for $40.00.hope this helps,don't forget the 4 thumbs up,any comments welcome,thank you,,after you need to check this, ``

I tried to drain my oil on my 2003 fxstdi from a plug on the bottom of the engine pan on brake side of bike. I of course learned this is NOT the right plug. The bike is supposed to be drained from the oil...

Oil spilled out on the bolt you removed? Hope to know more. It can be just a pan bolt that secures the oil pan. Just put it back and don't you worry. It will not harm your bike.

It would appear that you must 'go under the cover'. Look for a damaged oil line or split oil tank. The oil pump may have come loose from it's mounting. Be sure to check the oil filter for plugging. Hope this helps!

The procedure you are thinking about doing is the correct procedure but you need to know that there is a rubber seal behind the large nut. Best to remove the line, remove the large nut and replace the rubber seal. Overtorquing the nut will crack the plastic radiator tank. Double check BOTH fluid levels and conditions when finished.

I just bought 01 sportster 1200 and the oil tank is filled with light brown milky oil that smells like gas 1st harley help please


Light brown milky oil that smells like gas is not good. Drain the oil from the tank and refill it with three quarts of fresh oil. Remove the oil filter and take the spark plugs out of the engine. Using the starter spin the engine over for about 20 seconds without the new filter on the engine. Then wait about five minutes and do it again. The reason for the short spin time and the longer wait is that you don't want to burn up your starter. Keep doing this until you get fresh clean oil coming out of the engine. Put the new filter on and replace the spark plugs. Now,top off the oil tank to the lower line on the dipstick with the bike on it's side stand. The lower line on the stick is "FULL COLD" and the upper line is "FULL HOT". Do not overfill or you'll wind up with a mess. Then fire the engine and let it run for a while. Then turn the engine off and let it sit. If you look in the oil tank immediately after shutting the engine down, the oil will look light brown due to the foaming on top of the oil. Allow the foam to disapate and it should look good.

Now, if gasoline contaminated your engine oil, it may have contaminated your primary oil as well. I'd change that too. Drain the oil and add one quart of specified type of oil.
