Ride until engine is at normal operating temperature, locate oil filler plug/dipstick on right side of vehicle at top of transmission case, to remove the oil filler plug, pull steadily while moving plug back and forth.
With the vehicle at operating temperature and resting on the jiffy stand on level ground, allow the engine to idle for 1-2 minutes, the turn the engine off, pull out the dipstick, wipe off the dipstick and insert it back into the oil pan with the plug pushed completely into the fill spout, then remove the dipstick and note the level of the oil.
Add only enough oil to bring the level to the FULL
mark on the dipstick. See Figure 1-2. Do not overfill.

Where to check oil level on 2002 ultra classic

Hi Anonymous, the engine oil dipstick on Softail and Sportster models is located on the right hand front side of the oil tank and the Harley Bible says, engine should be at normal operating tempurature, let idle on jiffy stand for two minutes. Shut off engine and hold bike straight up and dipstick all the way in, correct engine oil level will be at the top full mark. Do not overfill oil tank as this will cause engine breathing issues. On Dyna and Touring models The engine oil dipsticks are located on the right front top corner of the transmission and the engine oil pan is underneath the transmission. The engine oil level is checked in the same manner as Softails and Sportsters. If you are having oil carryover or breathing issues (dipstick launch) try running oil level half way between the add and full marks, running the engine at this oil level will not harm normal operation. Good luck and have nice day.

Changed oil in my 2002 ultra classic and when i started it up there is no oil pressure.

No oil pressure isn't good. Sounds like an air bubble may of got in the system. Try this to prime the oil system after an oil change. Pull the spark plug wire off the plug. Now turn the motorcycle over and see if you can prime the oil system. This should cycle the air bubbles through without harming the engine. If that doesn't work, try draining the oil again, and prime before you start. If none of that works, your oil pump may have fail.
