2006 Gsxr 600 gauge not working

I just got this bike and i have been riding it on the gas that it had in the tank which was about 1/4 full. the gauges worked fine no problems. i go to the gas station yesterday and the gauge goes hay wire saying its at 6k at idle and the gas light is on and also 358km per hour. I pulled the speedo out and no loose wires no corrosion i put it back in and it starts to flicker. The speedo needle goes down to 0rpm and nothing works still. Please help i am running out of places to look.

The first thing to check is your battery. A failing battery can cause all kinds of strange electrical behavior. Post again if you load test the battery and it is good.

I have a JD D110 riding mower and the gas gauge always shows full. It worked for awhile and then I filled the tank and it now always says full. How do I fix this?

If the wire from the sender to the gage is shorted out to ground the gage will always show full. Other possible is a defective sender or gage, even on a new machine

How do I cure vapor lock?

If you're getting vapor lock, the bike will die after a few miles, and not restart for several minutes.
If the bike dies, immediately remove the gas cap and see if the bike will restart right away.
You could also ride it without the gas cap (try it on a tank that's 1/4-1/2 full, NOT fully full, because of gas splash) and see if it doesn't die after a few miles.

Chances are there is a water build up in the carb float bowls. The water comes from condensation in the gas tank. Try draining the carbs. Another possibility is carburetor main jets partially plugged up. You must clean the carbs if plugged jets are found to be the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_152.gif

I purchased a gas tank for my '07 Deuce and had it painted. The problem is that I did not notice that it does not have the bracket inside the tank for mounting the fuel level sender. Is there an option for...

To mount a fuel gauge in the tank, the left side "fuel inlet" must be designed for the sending unit and gauge. I'm afraid that there is no way to modify your tank much less without ruining your new paint.

Do like all of us old timers do, about every 150-200 miles, stop for fuel. Evidently your bike is equipped with a carb or you'd have a large hole for mounting the fuel pump and such. I'd put a Pingel manual petcock on the tank. They are worth the money and it may save you from a major headache in the future. If you're still running the original petcock, it is vacuum operated and will sooner or later get a hole in the diaphragm. Then you'll be stuck somewhere with a full tank of fuel but none in the carb. Put the petcock in the "ON" position and fill the tank. Ride until your engine runs out of gas and not the miles it took to do this. This is how many miles you can go before you need to find a station. I've got a '94 FXDWG that the fuel gauge quit many years ago. I've also been riding since 1966 and I never had a fuel gauge until I bought this bike. Old bikers rock.

Gas gauge stays on full

very common. The sender in the gas tank is the problem.
It will need to be replaced some day
Both my gas tanks do the same thing in my F250. 1 tank stays full all the time and the other drops from full to about a half tank when I get to half a tank and then works so so till empty.
