This can only be the switch as it works by cutting the power to the low voltage side of the coil be carful trying the switch because at the moment the contacts in the switch have moved to give you permeant power but they could just as easily move the outer way and the bike will not start

What would be the neccessary steps I need to take in order to correct the problem and get it functioning properly again? Thank you kindly for your assistance!

You will need to replace the kill switch on the Handel bar this is a farly simple job as it is a plug and play

  • mgcoco May 11, 2014

There are 2 or 3 screws on the under side of the switch gear these will release the switch gear from the Handel bar now follow the cables from it until you find the plug this will be the hardest part when you find it unplug it and plug in the replacment

SOURCE: I have a 150cc jonway scooter. When I open it up

I found that if I run 87 octane gasoline the engine accelerates up to full speed without the skipping and bogging down at any point it is running. It is worth trying. also try putting some "Sta-bil" fuel stabilizer in the gasoline - it has the ability to keep the carbureator cleaner. Not just during the time you are storing it, but rather all the time.

Jonway scooter. When i hit the front breaks: nothing. Is there a way to tighten the front breaks through a span bolt just like rear breaks?

Depends on year, model and cc. Depends on whether the disc brakes are hydraulically operated or cable. First thing to do is to check the condition of the pads. Videos and help in the links.

When I try to start my 2011 yy250t Jonway scooter it makes a click sound by the starter and won't turn the engine over.

Hi, Becky you might need some help with this it should be noted that in order to "PROPERLY" diagnosis any electric starter issue it is "IMPERATIVE" that you begin with a fully charged battery 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a proper load test, and the usual suspects are:
1. Battery terminals have loose or corroded connections.
2. Battery cables faulty due corroded or broken internal wiring at the cable connector especially the "NEGATIVE" cable which needs to be checked at "BOTH" ends.
3. Battery voltage, 12.5 volts or better,to the main circuit breaker to the ignition switch to the security/ignition fuse to the TSM/TSSM module to the engine stop/run switch to the starter button to the starter relay to the green wire that connects to the starter solenoid has dropped more than 1/2 volt.
4. With a voltmeter connected to the battery, the ignition switch in the on position, the kill switch in the run position, the starter button depressed, starter engagement should not bring voltage below 8-9 volts.
If a lower voltage is produced a proper battery load test should be performed with a load tester to validate battery integrity or battery replacement.
5. Faulty starter relay, check continuity.
6. Faulty starter solenoid, check contact plate and shoes for excessive electrical erosion/etching, refurbish as necessary or invert contact plate and use the virgin backside. Check contact shoes for being loose. Replace solenoid if the negative function is still a final outcome.
7. Faulty starter, bench test starter with a 12-volt battery if negative function check, decontaminate and undercut armature commutator segments as necessary, check segments with an ohmmeter probe each one and the segment next to it for shorts. Have the armature tested with a growler and field coils, and brush plate with an ohm-meter for opens, shorts or grounds. Replace brushes if less than .438" It is generally cheaper to overhaul/refurbish a starter motor than buy a new one.

Hi, Crystal you may have a blown fuse or faulty lighting coil for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Jonway, despair not, for a mere $10 you can download another one.
