Question about 2005 Aprilia RS 125
Hi,i have just rebuiilt engine put ngine back in frame it started up great, turned it off put petrol tank back on wouldnt start not even a spark now when i put the key in i here a bleeping noise from the emobilizer could this be the problem i havent got a spark thank you colin
The rebuilt NGINE worked great as you said. The line could have an air gap and need flushing. Check the plug and see if it has deposits or oil on the contact. Clean and gap properly. Check the electrical system to see if your getting a spark.

First check the battery to see its still fully charged. If it is do a voltage drop test between the battery and the starter to check for a bad relay or open circuit. If that checks out, you very likely have a bad starter/solenoid. I can explain how to do these tests if u need me to

before buying a new HT coil (as these are generally bullet proof on an et), remove the inspection panel and disconnect the spark cap. secure something long, thin and metal into the cap ( screw, tweezers, etc) and position it with a slight gap to the frame. disable the immobiliser and use the kick start. you should see the spark jumping from the metal to the metal frame. I fyou see this spark, it is most likely that the HT coil is fine.
Sometimes the diaphragm in the fuel tap can go wonky on an ET also, meaning that it might start alright but after going for a while, once the carb drains, the engine will die from fuel starvation. to test the fuel tap, remove the 2 tubes that run from the fuel tap to the carb at the carb end and **** lightly on the thin one. you will feel the daphragm open and fuel will run from the fatter tube if it is working.
Another thing that might happen if it is running for a while then dies is that the carb might be allowing too much fuel to the engine and flooding it. If when it restarts, there is a lot of smoke from the exhaust it could indicate this. leave it tick over for a while to run off the worst of it then increase the throttle slowly until you hit full throttle, leave it run back down to idle and you should be set to go. only use the throttle lightly and go slowly and it should bring you home at least then adjust your carb.

well thats the battery i guess its not turning the engine over fast enough for it to fire also try bumping it in 2-3 gear if it starts you know ya problem battery if it still doesnt go get back to me buddy

tilt tank back and look at the spark plug clean it aswell then try it get back to me if not ok also i have amanual i will look for the spanner tomorrow night buddy
