I have a 1994 883 im tring to replace inner clutch hub do i have to pull hole clutch assembly then seperate inner or if i remove main nut can i pull inner leaving outer on bike

Bowden cables like your clutch cable work on the law of the lever. Think of lifting up a heavy weight hanging on a rope using a lever balanced on a fulcrum. The rope is in tension and the fulcrum is in compression. To adjust the point of lift you could either vary the length of the rope or adjust the height of the fulcrum. The outer sleeve of your clutch cable is made out of plastic-coated steel, square-section wire and is resistant to compression forces along its length. This outer sleeve works as your fulcrum and, because it is flexible, lets you put it where it is needed - at the end of your handlebar. The cable inner is like the rope in the lever example and resists only stretching forces. It is threaded down through that snaking fulcrum back to where control movement is needed. The cable adjusters let you fine tune the length of the fulcrum, and therefore the lift range of the inner cable.,,,

The clutch inner hub torque values ar 7.5Nm or 7.5n-kg or 54 ft-lb.

The clutch springs torque to 8Nm or 0.8m-kg or 5.8 ft-lb.

You really need a manual for this job if you have never done it before. readers digest version is as follows. Drain Primary Fluid, remove outter primary cover, Remove compensating Nut its the one on the front, use a snap ring plyer on the clutch, remove the clutch adjuster nut rod plate . will come out in one piece, Remove the Chutch Hub Nut it turns opposit ( in other words tightening is loosening it) remove bolt on the chain tensioner, whole system will now pull out.
Leave the stator magnet on dont have to remove thats the silver plate up front. Remove the jack shaft bolt on the starter pull it out. Go to other side of bike remove two starter bolts you will need LONG allen..then remove all the bolts on the inner primary and remove it. If you dont understand any of this you need a manual for your bike. or any Harley FL its all the same.

    • 1 Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels by turning them one-quarter turn counterclockwise using a tire wrench. Do not unseat the wheel from the wheel hub. The only reason for doing this is to make it easier to remove the lug nuts when the wheels are off the ground.
    • 2 Raise the vehicle onto jack stands. Jack up on the jack point behind the radiator and place jack stands under the front pinch welds of the Megane under the front doors. Then, lower the vehicle onto the jack stands.
    • 3 Finish removing the lug nuts with a tire wrench and pull the tire off the wheel hub.
    • 4 Remove the inner wheel-liner screws using a screwdriver and pull the wheel liner down.
    • 5 Pry the access panel off the the inner wheel well to expose the access hole to the headlight assembly. You won't be able to easily see what you're doing in here, so you'll need to do this largely by feel.
    • 6 Squeeze the release tabs on the headlight connector and pull the connector off the back of the headlight.
    • 7 Pull the spring clip off of the back of the headlight and the headlight will come out of the headlight assembly with no trouble.
    • 8 Insert the new headlight into the back of the housing assembly through the access hole in the wheel well. Installation of the removed components is the reverse of removal.

Stairmaster Stepper Drive Hub Assembly Replacement
  1. Remove the side covers.
  2. Remove the step chain retainers.
  3. Supposrt the pedal arm. Unhook the pedal arm return spring from the spring hanger. Lift the step chain up and off the clutch sprocket and lower the pedal arm to the floor. Repeat on the other side.
  4. Remove the snap ring from the left end of the drive shaft. WARNING: To reduce the risk of eye injury, wear eye protection when removing snap rings.
  5. Remove the drive chain.
  6. Remove the sprocket and other small parts from the left side of the hub assembly.
  7. Slide the drive shaft to the right, out of the hub assembly. If you remove the right-hand clutch sprocket form the drive shaft, do not confuse it with the left-hand clutch sprocket.
  8. Loosen and remove the two remaining bolts and nuts that hold the hub assembly to the frame. Remove the hub assembly.
  9. Inspect the drive shaft, bushings, thrust washers, and clutch sprockets for excessive wear or pitting. Replace any worn components.
  10. To reinstall the hub assembly, carefull reverse the disassembly procedures. Be sure that the right- and left-hand clutch sprockets are positioned correctly; the wide shoulder of the sprocket should be facing away from the hub on both sides.
  11. Chain Tension. The drive shaft is mounted in an eccentric hub. Rotate the hub so the marked hole is in the 12 o'clock posistion, lining up four holes in th hub with the four holes in the frame. Use this hub position when reinstalling the drive chain since the distance between the drive and the transmission shafts is at a minimum. The hub is in the proper position when the drive chain has a total of 1" to 1-1/2" of play, up and down, at the slackest point in the chain. If it is necessary to increase the tension or tighten the chain, rotate the hub counter clockwise until the chain has proper tension.
  12. Reinstall the covers.

We generally start at the wheel and steering assembly, of course remove the tire/rims assembly, remove the outter tie rod end from the steering spindle, remove the ball joint nuts, possibly brake caliper/ or cables, seperate the components from the spindle assy., remove the center hub nut securing the axle to the spindle assy. and then remove the hub/steering spindle from the outer cvjoint splined shaft, the axle assy. is then connected usually by an expansion ring inside the differential and by applying enough pressure pull the inner cvjoint shaft out of the differential sometimes the use of a prybar will aid in this.

The inner clutch hub fits onto the tapered mainshaft of the transmission. If I understand you correctly, you are saying that when you put the inner hub on and torque the nut, it locks up and will not turn. The mainshaft has a woodruf key in it that goes into a slot in the in hub. If this key is pushed out when installing the clutch, it will become trapped between the hub and the inner primary housing locking the clutch assembly up. Sometimes getting the inner hub on without knocking this key out can be a daunting task for someone that is new at it. Take the hub back off, put the key in the mainshaft using a thick grease or something. Look into the hole in the inner hub as you install it and make sure the key is aligned with the slot.

How to change wheel bearings on jaguar xj6 front 1996


Disconnect the vehicle battery ground lead.
Support the vehicle at the front and remove the appropriate wheel.
Remove brake caliper and disc assemblies see SRO 70 10
Note- Do not allow the caliper to hang by either harness or
flexible hose.

Pry off the hub grease cap
Remove and discard cotter pin
pull off castellated nut retainer
Remove the hub nut and bearing washer.
Carefully remove the hub assembly from the stub axle.

Pry the original seal from the spigot and discard.
remove the bearings and using a drift punch knock out the bearing cups.
Remove all traces of grease and dirt from the stub axle and back plate.
Note: the backing plate may be used to pull the inner bearing and seal if they stay on the stub shaft.
Press in the new bearing cups using a socket or other tool of the correct size to prevent damaging the new bearing cup or hub.
Note: Do not use bearing to press in the cup.
Pack the annular gaps of the oil seal lips with grease.
Wash the hub assembly thoroughly.
Ensure that the hub inner seal diameter is free of debris or damage and is lightly lubricated prior to assembly.
Only replace complete bearings, never cup or race in isolation.
Pack each race with approximately 4 ml of grease and position the inner race onto the stub axle.
Apply a smear of grease to hub inner surfaces and bearing cups. Assemble the hub to the stub axle followed by outer race, bearing washer and hub nut.
It is not necessary to fill the hub cavity with grease, merely protect from corrosion with a coat of lubricant. Seat the bearings by slightly tightening the hub nut whilst rotating the hub. Do not apply load without rotation.

Adjust End float. Set a Dial Test Indicator and adjust the hub nut to achieve the correct end float.

As the adjustment is made, continually load the hub axially in both directions.
Without disturbing the end float setting, fit the castellated
nut retainer so that it aligns with both hub nut and stub axle drilling.
Secure nut retainer using a new cotter pin.

Reassemble brake rotor and caliper. Bolts MUST be tightened to specification
operation of the braking system verified.

  1. Raise the vehicle and install jackstands.
  2. Refer to Manual or Automatic Free Running Hub Removal and Installation and remove the hub assemblies. Fig. 1: Remove the outer locknut on the Model 60/70 front drive axle 88477g63.gif

  3. Remove the wheel bearing lock nut, using a hub nut wrench.
  4. Remove the lock ring from the bearing adjusting nut. This can be done with your finger tips or a screwdriver. Fig. 2: Exploded view of the front hub retaining hardware 88471109.gif

  5. Using a hub nut wrench remove the bearing adjusting nut.
  6. Remove the caliper and suspend it out of the way (see the brake section).
  7. Slide the hub and disc assembly off the spindle. The outer wheel bearing will slide out as the hub is removed, so be prepared to catch it. To install:
  8. Carefully position the hub and disc assembly on the spindle.
  9. Install the outer bearing cone and roller, and the adjusting nut. NOTE: The adjusting nut has a small dowel on one side. This dowel faces outward to engage the locking ring.

  13. Install the outer lock nut and tighten to 50-80 ft. lbs. (68-108 Nm). Final end-play of the wheel on the spindle should be 0.001-0.010 in. (0.025-0.25mm).
  14. Assemble the hub parts.
  15. Install the caliper.
  16. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.
Model 44 With Full-Time 4-Wheel Drive
  1. Remove the wheel cover.
  2. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the axle shaft nut. Fig. 3: Remove the wheel bearing adjusting nut from the Model 44 front axle 88477g64.gif

  3. Raise the support the front end on jackstands.
  4. Remove the wheels. Fig. 4: Exploded view of the Model 44 wheel bearing adjusting nut, retaining washer and locknut in their correct relationship 88477g65.gif

  5. Unbolt the caliper and support it out of the way. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE BRAKE LINE!
  6. Remove the inboard brake pad.
  7. Remove the axle shaft nut and washer.
  8. Through the hole provided in the rotor, remove the six retainer bolts.
  9. Position pull C-4358, or equivalent, over the wheel lugs and install the lug nuts. Tighten the main screw of the puller to remove the hub, bearings, retainer and outer seal as an assembly.
  10. Insert a prybar through the U-joint and wedge the shaft inward as far as it will go. Make sure that it is wedged securely and can't be moved.
  11. Install the hub, rotor and bearing assembly and tighten the retainer bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm) in a crisscross pattern.
  12. Install the brake adapter. Tighten the bolts to 85 ft. lbs. (115 Nm).
  13. Remove the prybar form the U-joint.
  14. Install the axle shaft nut and tighten it to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm), then continue tightening it to align the cotter pin holes. Install the cotter pin.
  15. Using the lube fitting, fill the knuckle with NLGI, Grade 2, multi-purpose EP grease until the grease is seen flowing through the inner seal. Fig. 5: Lubrication fitting location on the rotor top hat 88477g69.gif

  16. Install the inner brake pad and caliper (see Section 9).
  17. Install the wheels and tighten the lug nuts to 110 ft. lbs. (150 Nm).

Im trying to replace the rotors and im having a Hard time getting it off. HELP


You might want to spray some WD-40 around the center of the rotor and the wheel lugs. Usually on Honda's, the rotors will have 2 threaded holes to put in bolts. Screw in each bolt equally to help push the rotor away from the hub.

Need to replace the front wheel bearings on a 2003 Ford F150


I am assuming it is a two wheel drive unit. Remove the wheel. Remove the caliper assembly from the axle and support it so it soes not just hang from the brake line. Pull the dust cap off from the center of the axle end. Remove the cotter key fron the nut. Remove the nut. Gently pull the rotor assembly from the axle spindle. Remove the seal on the inside of the rotor assembly. Lift the inner bearing out of the race. Use a drift pin to remove the race from the hub. Be careful not to score the inside of the hub where the race mounts. Do the same process for the outer bearing. Replace the race and make sure it is fully seated. Grease the new bearings. Replace the inner wheel seal with a new one. Slide the hub back onto the spindle. Place the flat washer on the spindle with the nut and seat the bearings to about 20 pounds torque and back off about 1/8 turn and snug again and replace the kotter key with a new one,. Replace the dust cap back onto the hub and your done.

Need 2 replace clutch on my 2001 softail duece


Remove the outer primary cover on left side. Don't forget to drain the oil first. Using a large pair of snap ring pliers, remove the clutch adjuster plate from center of clutch assembly. Remove compensator sprocket nut (very tight) and the clutch hub nut (left handed threads) and remove nut from bolt on primary chain adjuster. Grab the compensator sprocket and clutch assembly and lift out of inner primary.
