make sure when you check the oil that the bike has been sitting on the centre stand for about twenty minutes or so before you check it as there is still alot of oil in the cylinder head and oil coolers etc, sitting the bike will let the oil drain back to the sump and give you a correct reading, try this and see how you go,hope this helps

If the bike is reving high in top gear but you are not gaining speed or very little speed your clutch is slipping. This is a sign the clutch needs replaced.

Fuel guage and tach not working

Hi. Some automotive instruments use a Voltage Stabilizer to stabilize the instrument cluster and smooth out erroneous and erratic readings. Sometimes this Voltage Stabilizer fails, taking some of the instruments with it, and it needs it to be replaced. You can check you wiring diagram and see if your system uses such a device. They don't cost much although some are not easy to replace. You could also try a second hand instrument cluster.

Zx7 running weird tach flicking up and down

Sounds like an engine misfire, most likely due to a spark plug connector insulator leaking to the cylinder head.

Gas gauge and tach do not read proper readings! What will cause this? The gas guage will peg past full when there is only quarter tank and tach reads 4500 RPM at idle

The gas tank sounds like a bad ground usually located under the car at the gas tank. I do not know but maybe they both tach and fuel gague get their ground from the same place.

Try output sensor for the transmission (it is similar to a vehicle speed sensor), these can control the speedo and shifting. Not sure if it does anything to the rpm guage, but very possible.

Instrument guages stopped working

Hi, this could be as simple as a blown fuse. It could also be because of failed general parts. i would first check the fuse box to make sure all the fuses are good then, i would check the wire connections on the back of each gauge to see if they may have become lose or separated form the housing.
