Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell.

Front forks what goes in them highdrolic fluid or brake fluid

Not brake fluid or Hydraulic oil ( oil weight is the issue)
Drain forks ( bottom nipple) , remove top bold , be careful it is pressurized by spring . Use the right tool otherwise will damage bolt and your face.

Front forks should be sealed properly, fork seal should be intact, no water or brake fluid in them. Right amount of fork fluid is imperative along with oil weight specification ( check manual and appropriate oil weight for your bike), wrong oil and amount can otherwise damage your forks.

When cold the bike is hard to start, when hot , no problem. When i installed cams,I also went from 20x50 oil to 20x60. I read in the service manual that this could be causing the problem

There is no need to go to a heavier oil, Harley 20/50 is more than sufficient for these bikes. The only time i would recommend changing the kind of oil is to synthetic. be it ams oil or syn3 only upon that your get caught in traffic a lot or are a "cam rider" as they call it. personally i am a cam rider, i am always on the power band on my 2006 flstfi with 103" engine and Harley 257 cams. only in early evo and shovel head engines do you change the weight of the oil due to temperature changes hotter out use 60 weight colder use 50. just for easy starts and no leaks.

What kind of oil is used in a 89 honda shadow 600

Get full synthetic motorcycle oil in 5w30 weight. It should be perfect for your bike. The engine should hold about 3 qts, but I would put in 2 and then check the site glass and fill it from there. Hope this helps.

What kind of oil should I use for my bike

Motorcycle oil with the JASO MA rating Honda recommends 10w-40 year round or 20w-50 in hot weather. Do not use oil that is Energy Conserving It will shorten wet clutch and gear life. I recommend synthetic Amsoil, Mobil 1 motorcycle, etc.. Also consider synthetic hypoid gear oil for the rear end it will have less friction and run cooler.

What kind of oil does this bike use and the tire pressure should be what?

If the bike is 2005 Harley Davidson XL1200 Sportster, it uses Harley Davidson Syn3 20W50 oil. You can use any good petroleum or synthetic oil of this weight as long as it has a API code rating with CG or better for use in diesel engines. Amsoil makes a good substitute or Mobil V-Twin.

Tire pressure is 30 psi in the front 36 psi in the rear

What kind of oil should i use for my 1985 yamaha maix xj 700??

Absent evidence to the contrary and based on the age of your machine, you should probably use 'normal' oil. I don't think you will gain any benefit from the use of the expensive synthetic. Your bike is air cooled? Air cooled engines are tougher on oil than are water cooled engines. Find out the recommended weight and service rating from Yamaha. Use that weight and service class at a minimum and a higher service rating if available. Go to to a good auto parts place, not the "fast food" version, and ask the counter guy and/or find a comphy seat in the oil asle and start reading the cans.

Let me know how you make out with this.

I need to know what kind of oil to use for a Honda motorcycle.

You need an SE oil, Wal Mart used and maybe still does sell a motorcycle oil (not their brand). You probably will need 30 weight or a multi viscosity (which I use 20-50). Buy a good oil, maybe a synthetic with that rating. Rear final takes 90 weight in most instances except cold weather. A parts house or bike shop will sell the right oil. Just buy the best oil you can, and keep it changed frequently & the wing will just about go forever, Hope this helps you with your scoot, Rick

Oil Change

Drain engine oil and replace oil filter(your local automotive store will have a book telling you what oil filter you need to buy). You've probably been using a multi-grade 10-30 or 10-40 weight oil. Or a straight 30 weight oil. Regardless, replace that oil with one grade heavier, single-weight of oil. During warm months, use 40 weight; in the winter (depending on how far the mercury dips in your part of the country) use 20 or 30 weight. Slightly thicker oil won't hurt that worn engine, and if your battery is good, it'll turn over fast.
