Could be a bad regulator or alternator.

The connection where the alternator stator wires plug into the regulator could be corroded/dirty and need to be cleaned and sprayed with electrical contact cleaner and protected with dielectric grease because corroded wires going to the battery or alternator from the stator or the regulator will affect the ability of the charging system to properly charge a battery.

Check regulator ground by using an ohmmeter with one lead on a known good ground, such as the battery ground cable, and the other on the regulator base.

Current and Voltage Output Test
This test requires a load tester. As it appears that many shops/techs do not understand electricity and as they are relatively expensive testers many shops do not even have one. If you have one connect the negative and positive leads to the battery terminals, place the load tester induction pickup over the positive regulator cable and run the engine at 3000 RPM, increasing the load until a constant voltage reading of 13.0 VDC is obtained. At this point the current output should be 26 to 32 AMPS. Make a note of this reading as it will be used if a TOTAL CURRENT DRAW TEST will also be done. (A rider's riding habits, i.e. rpm of the engine while usual riding is being done could be significantly lower than 3000 RPM which would mean that less than the above optimal voltages would be produced so a rider in too high a gear for a given speed might have too low an operating RPM and thereby produce less current than is required to meet the bike's electrical load demands.)
Do not under any circumstances leave any load switch turned on for more than 20 seconds or overheating and tester damage are quite likely to occur.

Voltage Output Test
After removing the load, read the load tester voltage meter AND if voltage to the battery is not more than 15 VDC then voltage output is within specifications but if the voltage is higher then the regulator is not functioning properly or there are lose or dirty connections present.

AC Output Check
Disconnect the voltage regulator connector from the alternator stator wiring and then connect an AC voltmeter across both stator sockets of a two wire stator, or if a three wire stator across two of the three for example 1 & 3 and then later you will repeat the test between 2 & 3 and later between 1 & 2. THEN run the engine at as close as possible in the circumstances to 2000 RPM. The AC output should be approximately 32-40 VAC, approximately 16-20VAC per 1000 RPM. If you have done a stator static test and the stator has proven to be in good mechanical condition and the AC output is below specifications, the charging problem is going to be a faulty rotor. If you have not done a static stator check yet and the AC output is less than as set out above it may be that the stator is defective and the static stator check will need to be done. While the regulator has nothing whatsoever to do with the alternator output, if the alternator output is good the regulator might be defective in either rectification or in limiting the output to the battery to under 15 VDC. If AC output is low and the stator has passed the static stator check then it is likely that the permanent magnets in the alternator rotor are weak. A permanent magnet can lose its magnetic strength if it is dropped or shocked such as letting it snap into place when being installed or possibly by use of an impact wrench to remove the compensator fastener etc.

Rotor Inspection
Inspect the rotor for physical signs of damage. THEN remove center bolt and inspect for signs of the center hole having become oval and ensure that the stator bolts have not come loose and come into contact with the rotor.

The battery is low after one week. Isnt it supposed to last up to 6 months?

It sounds like you have something that is drawing some power off of it while it is turned off. You will need to track down this parasitic drain or disconnect the battery each time you park it.

Voltage drops when setting still has new battery and alternator

Check grounds. Look at your cables. Could be corrosion.

New battery not charging after changing the alternator

First make sure both battery cables are free of corrosion and ground is secured to chassis and engine then check to see if theres an alt. fuse or bat. fuse blown. Another way to test charging sys w\out an meter is to remove the ground terminal from the bat. with the car running, if the alt. is good car stays running, if all else fails take the alt and bat to a parts store that will test them for free

My 2004 f350 diesel is not charging the battery Alt. test good Bat. test good

Possible that the alternator or the electronic charging unit has failed. You need to start and check the battery voltage with the car running and reving.

How do you gain access and remove the battery on the 2006 lacerne and would this battery already need to be replaced?

they hide them in the front fender or under the hood in rear seat compartment or in the trunk where spare tire is you should test charging system then test bat sometimes recharge battery before testing and if everything is ok a bat drain test will give up the problem

Battery on full charge then start truck drive to town and noticed volt gauge at low turned lights and access off got home shut truck off tried starting after shut down and noting but dead bat havn prob...

You need to fully charge the battery and load test it, then check the charging system and alternator drive belt for tightness. do not remove cable when running or it can harm the charging system...ok on older cars, no longer good practice. Quick check of charge system can be done with volt meter across the battery. Volts should read between 13 and 14volts and not drop over time. With all lights, heater etc on volts should be better than 12.5 (usually above 13 and again, not drop with time.

I have a 96 rodeo and i have replaced the bat and have replaced the alt and the bat still goes dead after a couple of days using a/c

OK, the AC has nothing t o do with the charging system, If your charge meter on the dash shows more than 13, it is charging, that is good, if the battery checks out, that is good, Just because it is new doesn't mean it is good, get it to walmart and have them test it for free, they will tell you what shape it is in, The alternator belt has to be tight to be charging. The terminals have to be clean to charge the battery, The only other thing I can think of is something is switched on while the car is off, and it is draining the battery, radio, fuzz buster, something like that, or the fuel pump is running,. It will drain a battery in less than a week. Check it out, listen for something buzzing or humming late at night when it is quiet. Hope this helps.

Battery light on tested bat and alt both good light still on

If the light is on and the alternator is good then you either have a short to ground in the wire that runs the charge light or there is a diode in the alternator that is bad.The alternator will test good with a bad diode if it is only tested for the voltage it reaches but if you were to check the amperage output it would be down from it's output rating.

you have to check the alternator first if it is not charging then battery will keep dieing from being used.

The battery will take a charge but will hold it

How old is your battery? 24 + months old? Probably time for a new one. You could do a hydro test on it if you have the equipment. 1200 is a good reading. Maybe your auto parts store could check it for you. If they do, get your battery there please.

Otherwise, you have something draining your battery

I hope this helps ...
