Question about Motorcycles

1 Answer

What size flywheel puller do i use for my 1985 Yz 125. I have no idea if its right or left handed thread. The threads are on the inside edge of the magneto about 1/4 inch from the shaft. I think ot might be a female puller but 18mm is what everyone says but it looks to small for that size. Please help!!

Go to a yamaha dealer and have them order the proper puller for you. some shops will even pull it for you for a small fee.

SOURCE: Is YZ 125 Clutch hub nut left or right hand thread

I don't Know, but the nut will be set to tighten when the crank turns. So just check which way the crank rotates while running and loosen in the Same direction.

65 hp evinrude removal of flywheel

Remove the Flywheel nut, Get a steering wheel puller or a harmonic balancer puller that has a pin in the bottom. ( I have both and the official OMC one the OMC is the best) . Get the proper length bolts and make sure they go far enough into the flywheel to engage all the threads but not too far as to damage the coils. Make sure they are screwed in evenly. Then tighten the puller while holding the flywheel ( you can use a screwdriver by the starter or a flywheel holder)and when it feels tight hit the top of the tightening bolt (This is the one in the center of the puller with a hammer. that will "pop" the flywheel. if it doesn't come tighten more and hit it again. The shock of the hammer will pop it off. If you don't shock it, it may not pop off the taper.

Here is a picture of the OMC puller and a Steering wheel puller the OMC is the black one.
Here is the proper bolt. Official OMC tool bolt

Notice the thread length is limited as this is a shoulder bolt made especially for pulling OMC flywheels. That prevents them from screwing in too far and helps keep them even.

Remove magneto on crank

You will need a special puller. The tool is about $20 to $30 after market or $70 at the dealers parts department. Call around to find one. It will last a lifetime and will work on nearly all bikes, Honda, Yamaha, etc.. You just thread the tool into the magneto threads then turn the puller bolt very tight to put pressure on the end of the crankshaft then smack the puller bolt with a hammer. BINGO, the mag is free. What are the demensions for a 2001 yamaha yz 125 engine magneto/flywheel nut? i need to buy one because i lost mine and dont know what size to get

Best thing to do is order one through your bike shop. Generally the threads on the crankshaft are of a particular thread size specific to Yamaha, Honda etc. and sourcing a nut from elsewhere is near impossible. They have to be balanced and are sometimes a left turning thread, and generally comform to a specific wall size for best fit on the parts. Trying to to replicate the nut would be a metter of trial and error. They are not that much more expensive than from a hardware store. The link below has the parts available or links to similar sellers. Cheers!

How to remove flywheel cover to clean points 85 honda xr 80

You will need a flywheel pullers. Most 50 to 125cc *** motorcycles of that vintage use the same size pullers so there should be no problem getting one. When you get a pullers remove the centre nut from the flywheel and screw the pullers into the flywheel. This has a left-hand thread. There is a way of doing it without the special tool but you need to be careful or you can damage the end of the crank. After you remove the flywheel nut replace it onto the crankshaft but do not tighten it up. Instead screw it up until it's flush with the threads on the crank. You now need an assistant to insert two screwdriver 180 degrees apart under the flywheel and lever it off. While they are doing this hit the flywheel nut several sharp blows with a hammer. Don't hit it too hard or you will damage the threads on the crank. Its best to get the flywheel tool. not expensive.

How do you remove a stator on a 1992 honda cr250 2 stroke

Stator unbolts, do you mean flywheel? You need a puller for it, it threads into the flywheel, after you remove the center bolt, left handed threads.

How do i remove the magneto flywheel from a yamaha dt 175 1991 model? tapered or threaded shaft?

You will need a flywheel puller, ( dealer can sell you one > low cost ), and a hammer.
Remove the nut and washer holding the flywheel. Now screw the puller into the flywheel as far as it will easily go. Be sure to back off the pullers' center screw when mounting puller. Tighten the center screw REALLY tight then firmly strike the center of the puller screw with a medium size hammer. Alternate tightening the center screw and striking with the hammer. To tighten the center screw you will want to strike the screw handel with medium hammer force. A few blows with the hammer should pop the flywheel.
Please rate this answer after all is done. Thanks.
