Sounds like a carburation problem to me
(1)
may be your choke is not switching off when you push the lever
and is seized where it joins the carburetor
get some light oil and lubricate the cable and take the choke mechs apart and clean it up then reassemble
(2)
cracked inlet manifold carburetor (connecting pipe)
it sounds like a damaged air filter or a cracked inlet manifold

if it is a cracked manifold
a quick get you home trick is to remove your carburetors
get 4 condoms put the condoms over the inlet manifold
cut holes in the end to refit your carbs
reassemble the bike
to get you home on the way home call in at your local motorcycle spares shop and order some new inlet manifolds

order a new air filter while you are there as well

hope this helps out

ride safe

SOURCE: bike will not idle witout having choke on a bit

I have a supermagna and used fuel stablizer once and it wasnt fit it gummed my carbs up,ive cleaned mine often and it isnt rocket science, remove the tank airbox assembly, loosen up the boot flanges that hook the carbs to the motor(ones on carb)then remove the carbs, then the cables, choke and throttle,do not remove carbs from assembly(leave all 4 together)remove the bottoms and tops of a carb, removefloat and jet, then remove all the brass jets and clean them so you can see through holes,,blow out all the holes in carbs, and reasemble, works for me every time, about two hours to do,good luck

SOURCE: engine dies when i give it gas, only when cold

ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher at hand when working on carburetors.
Drain the carburetors. There should be a screw on the lower side of each carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, (not all bikes have a water trap bowl). Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carbs to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetors from the engine.

FOR EACH carb > Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Before putting the slides back in the throat of the carbs, move the clip on the jet needle one notch lower. Put the rest of the carb back together and install the carb. Sync the carbs such that the slides on the carbs move at the same exact instant when the throttle is slowly turned from idle speed. Clean or replace the air filter and install an in-line fuel filter. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

My bike runs, idles cuts at 40% if opened any further dies and does not recover unless closed, what is the problem?

Common idleing is corrected by points on many blades. Clean the points and reset distributor and timing. Check loose covers for water seapage and seal when recommended by the mnfctr.

Hi, Partington_s for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. Bike starts and runs but will not idle properly and dies but ill start right away give a little gas and dies. The gas is a year old could that be the problem 10 hrs on the bike

Bofore doing anything else, you should flush the system and put fresh gas in. This is probably what is causing the problem... the Carburettor probably wants a good cleaning too.
