SOURCE: electrical problems
your speedo is not sealed where it mounts as all of these items are triggered by the speedo also the thje gas gauge fogging is just typical has the tank or the guage units ever been changed? the solution is to pull the speedo and replace the o-ring that seals it from the outside elements as well as the seal that rests against the tank under the speedo

SOURCE: back light on speedometer and
The lights and speedometer/ odometer are two separate things. First thing i would do is check your speed sensor, and wiring. My ground wire rubbed through and that was all that made mine stop. Don't know the model or year of your bike so can't really go into much more detail then that.

The fuses are under the seat. They have a black cover with orange writing on it. In an attempt to fix your speedo problem, remove the speed sensor from the right rear of the transmission housing. It is held in place with an allen bolt. Remove the bolt and twist the sensor slightly while pulling it up. Once it is out, check the magnet on the bottom for debris. Clean off any debris (metal shavings) and reinstall it. Ride the bike and see if this solves the problem.

your spedometer should be hooked up via cable off the front wheel. not through wiring but use your volt meter to ensure the wire coloring didnt change in the makes of bikes
