Because the inner cable has to turn and flex as it spins, they can occasionally break, this can be normal wear and tear. other reasons can be rust from washing, incorrect installation when changing tyres, or the outer has been kinked or damaged. Repace inner and outer as a set, apply some light lubrication.

SOURCE: were is the oil drain

The oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission. There are two drain plugs on the oil pan. They used to be one on the left front corner and one in the center. Now, they are both on the front edge of the pan right next to each other. The one on the outside is the oil drain plug. The transmission drain takes a hex key or allen wrench where the oil drain takes a standard wrench or socket.

Check the speedometer sensor on the gearbox. This is a common problem on Harleys. It can only be replaced as it is a sealed unit.

2007 dyna glide low rider with 4000 miles .. I was riding for a hour then stopped and fueled with gas then rode 20 mins more and it just lost power and wouldn't start

Any error codes?

1- Turn Ignition switch to OFF, Run/Stop switch is to Run.
2- Push odometer reset button in and hold.
3- Turn ignition switch to Ignition and release odometer reset button.
Background lighting should illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear.
4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing.
5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module (EFI) / (Ignition Control Module, 'Carbureted')
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer
6 - To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. If there are codes present, push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they
7 - Record the codes.
8 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer

2003 FXDL fuel gauge stopped working

Harley Davidson Wiring Diagrams and Schematics
Hi Anonymous, you could have a faulty sending unit or guage, there could be a problem with your wiring. On models with the fuel gauge posing as a left hand fuel cap the gauge is a press fit do not try to unscrew it, simply ample force lift up in a rocking motion to remove gauge. Disconnect wires to the gauge and with a set of positive and negative jumpers from the battery connect the positive jumper and flash the negative, gauge should peg full, if not replace gauge. With a test light check for power to the sending unit, then remove the sending unit and manually operate the float arm slowly with the correct wiring hooked up to the fuel gauge and sending unit and the ignition on, the gauge should respond accordingly if not replace the float arm assembly. Hi, Deberrybest whether one, some or all of your gauges go dark immediately or after a few minutes of riding the usual suspects are:
1. Blown instrument fuse.
2. A bad ground in the gauge circuit.
3. Faulty wiring before or after the fuse.
4. Faulty wiring or connector between the fuse and sensor.
5. Faulty wiring or connector between the sensor and gauge.
6. Gauge sensor has failed.
7. The gauge has failed.

I'd go buy a can of that "in the tank" carburetor and fuel injector cleaner and pour some in the fuel tank along with some fresh fuel. If this doesn't clear up your problem. A complete disassembly and cleaning of the carb may be called for.

Good Luck
