Purchase a Haynes manual at Autozone or most auto supply stores that covers your make and model year. There are several wiring diagrams in the back of the book. It costs $24.95. Im sure you'll find the diagram you are looking for.

Need diagram for f150 1976 wire attachment to break pedal, replaced slave cylinder abad now lights are on constant.

Mcmom, Either your brake pedal is not coming up far enough to the brake switch, or the brake switch is faulty. You may still have air in brake system not allowing pedal to come up high enough to contact switch, pull brake pedal all the way up and have a second person see if brake lights go off.
Links below to show brake switch location and show how brake pedal arm should come all the way up to turn off brake lights.

That sounds like a faulty brake light switch located down on the brake pedal lever under the dash, or a damaged wire at the wire connector to the brake light switch. Here are some images of what the brake light switch looks like to help assist you.

2004 kia optima, break lights stay on,taillights will not come on,bulbs are ok

It sounds as if your brake light switch is bad, or, your brake pedal return spring isn't pulling the pedal back towards the seat.

First, just pull up on the brake pedal, opposite direction of when you are applying them & see if the lights go off. If yes, you'll need a new return spring. If not, then usually the switch mounted up above the pedal is defective & needs to be replaced.

I believe once that is corrected, the lights should work properly if your parking lights are working, as they both use the same circuit. If not, you'll have to do some testing of those wires & backtrack to the light switch.

The Brake light switch also can have the cruise control switch & other controls associated with it but not always, depending on the specific Model & Year & other options so testing it could require a wiring diagram, I've included a link that will give you the wiring colors for the brake light switch itself. Testing the wiring is the only way to determine any other condition that would be causing that to happen.

Here's the link for the wiring:
http://www.commandocaralarms.com/wiring/2003-2005/Kia/Optima/893.html

It shows the brake switch wires as GREEN.
Good Luck.

1970 ford thunderbird 4 door The brake light so not work switch at pedal checks out there must be a relay for the multple lamps Where wouold this be located?

Check the wire to the brake light switch. it can look ok, and be broken inside.Take the connector off of the switch. Hold the wire with both hands, and one at a time, pull the wire to see if it streches. The insulation will break if the wire is broken inside

My brake lights stay on after turing off my 2004 Buick Rendezvous

The brake light switch is located under the dash - if you'll look at the brake pedal and follow it up until you see a plastic cylinder with an electrical connection - that should be the brake light switch - they are often difficult to remove (they are in a bad place and hard to get to - sometimes they are threaded as well - sometimes use a clip to hold them in) They have a push-button that contacts the pedal arm - When the brakes are off, the switch is "electrically open" and has no internal connection (no brake lights) when you push the brakes Switch is now "electrically closed", the switch button releases and the switch makes a connection internally to activate the lights - yours has either lost it's mounting and no longer contacts the pedal arm, keeping brake lights on - or has an internal short - keeping them on even when the switch is activated .....This often means that your brake lights do not work correctly (or rather stay lit at all times while you are driving) thus, a definite safety hazard - remove the wiring pigtail, remove and replace the switch and plug the wiring back in - have someone check that they are now working correctly - or use a mirror - (sometimes, on some vehicles there is a rubber plug that fits into the brake lever where it contacts the switch - this plug can fall out or break apart and cause the same problem, so when you get up under the dash to look for it, ensure the parts are there, and I usually activate the pedal with my hand and visually check the mechanicals to ensure proper operation and part presence....) The switch can also be mounted directly to the arm and moves with the pedal - or mounted on the car and is depressed by the pedal - I've seen it done several different ways so use your common sense and you'll be just fine...

What do the relays and fuses look like under the hook of a 96 s 10 blazer. Someone said to check theses and how do you. My brake lights dont work and the 10A fuse under the dash is good and i replaced the...

Did you check or replace the brake light bulbs?
It is more common to have burnt bulbs than a bad brake light switch or blown fuse.
Do you have orange signal lights and red brake lights at the rear?
Then the signal light switch will not affect the brake lights.....but....
If they are all red and you use the same bulbs for brake and signal....the brake light wiring goes through the signal light switch and could be affected there.
First....check for power getting to the brake light switch......and leaving it with a test light.......then go to the rear....pull a light assembly and check for power getting to the bulbs.no power? follow the wiring back to the switch looking for a bad connection.
The fuses and relays under the hood are usually in a black plastic box labeled fuses and or relays.
